I’m 36 years old, and I’ve never worn a tux. The last time I wore a jacket and tie was two years ago.
Then again, I live in a place where a button-down shirt and khakis is considered formal businesswear.

For a performance last Saturday. I wear my dinner suit at least 20 times a year.
I’ve never worn one.
June, I think. I wear one 4-5 times a year.
Twenty years ago, when I was a child, I attended a wedding where the adults were wearing tuxes and evening gowns.
The best I’ve done since then was a cocktail dress, two years ago.
I wore an Ann Taylor sundress for my own wedding.
I would love to have the opportunity to wear an evening gown. The last time I wore a formal dress was for a wedding this past summer.
Actually, I did wear an evening gown for Halloween about 8 years ago. I went as Elizabeth Bathory.
I attend a gala every September here in town. The dress code used to be ‘Black Tie Optional’, but I think the last year or two it’s been ‘Wine Country Formal’ or something like that. It’s a great event with people in tuxedos and ball gowns, as well as people in shorts or jeans and t-shirts, and everything in between.
I wore a full length gown the first 2 years, but every year since then I usually wear some kind of variation of a little black dress. It’s coming up in less than 2 weeks, and I haven’t even started shopping for one yet. I need to get on that.
Last Friday, coincidentally. Generally there are two functions a year (professionally related) that I pull the dinner suit out for, but other than that events calling for black tie are pretty sporadic.
The only time I wore a tuxedo was to my sisters’ wedding in 1996. Then again I live in the Northwest, where it seems no one outside the actual bridegroom in a wedding party will have a tuxedo. I’ve never been to a true formal dinner so no need to wear one there either.
The irony is that I’m a crossdresser so I actually own an evening gown that I wear every couple of months. Not only have I worn it a lot more than a tuxedo, I’ve worn it more than most women! Maybe you should change it to “When was the last time you wore a tuxedo OR evening gown?”
At my wedding in May.
Last spring, for my chorus’ concert.
I just wore a ball gown to the opera. Will go again in a month or so.
Last February, to a recital and cocktail party.
I like dressing up, but everyone else in the office voted down Black Tie Friday.
I last wore an evening gown New Year’s Eve.
I own two basic fall/winter evening gowns, since most events to which I wear one occur during that season and buy summer formal wear on an as needed basis.
Other than going to the opera a couple of times a season, company holiday parties and weddings, I rarely have occasion to go formal. A nice cocktail dress sees much more wear.
New Year’s 2000, I guess. But it got torn up in the mosh pit.
Last Saturday.
Probably about 13 years or so. I don’t mind wearing one and enjoy dressing up.
But I pretty much don’t go to formal things often.
My high school prom in 2002. I get a lot of wear out of my suits, but there doesn’t seem to be that much out there that requires a tux these days.
I was best man for my brother’s wedding (in more ways than one) circa 1989 AD.
I modeled one in 1991 for a local fashion show.
