When will Global Warming come to my neighborhood?

For anyone who lives in the Mid-West knows… this year was unseasonably cold. We really didn’t have a Summer… jest a really long (and late for that matter) spring, followed now by fall.

Why isn’t Global Warming warming up my neighborhood?

also on the global warming topic:

I hear all the time: Such and such ice field hasn’t been this far back since 1600ish blah blah blah…

if we know the world has been this warm before… what is the big deal now?

The simple answer is that Global warming doesn’t just make the temperature rise uniformly, it raises the average temperature.

However, in doing so, it causes major shifts in the climate, including making some places colder (really!). I seem to recall seeing a projected map of California after some of these shifts, and came to the conclusion that global warming would really help us out. We don’t have to worry about increased hurricanes, but the increased rainfall will seriously help, and a lot of desert areas will be turned into grasslands.

Indeed. The effects will not always be ‘warming’ - for example, changing ocean currents could disrupt the nice winds that keep the UK and Europe warmer than other places at lower latitudes.

This is why many people now call it ‘climate change’.

I’ve even heard it referred to as ‘climate destabilization’ which (to this activist) seems the most accurate (and appropriately alarmist) term.
