When will the whining over Hillary's loss end?

As for this, it’s not clear that it was a fair democratic election, given what we’ve learned about Russian interference.

Well said ! I was thinking this when I read the title of this thread !

aceplace57, I’ve noticed that this is a constant theme running through all your political posts: you think Democrats are rude, disrespectful, impudent, ill-mannered, petty, whiny, and inappropriate, and you want them all to sit down, shut up, and start being more deferential to their GOP betters. Which is pretty amazing coming from a guy who lives in Arkansas, a state where liberals are about as rare as leprechauns.

Well, buddy, I’m here to tell you that it ain’t happening. Liberals are not going to shut up, now or ever, no matter how many times you demand that they shut their pieholes and kneel before the old white guys you consider our rightful leaders.

I suggest you tune it out, or the next four years are going to be very stressful for you.

Really ? Charming… but it reaffirms the rest of us’s belief in the violence inherent in the American Soul.

[QUOTE]

This saddens me a great deal that we are viewed in this way by the rest of the world. Unfortunately, it looks like it is the accurate view of us. I’m used to having gut-toting nuts on the far-right. Looks like we’ve got them on the far-left now.

How is it that you happen to know so many of these mentally unstable people?

Excellent points. As someone who voted for Trump, I am very glad to have your moderating influence here. So far, I’ve only seen the ugly side of anti-Trump protest on this board…

Trump voters? They pop up like mildew.

It’s really quite cute that you believe this.

You fail to understand the underlying logic of an aceplace57 thread. His own preferences and assumptions constitute the fundamental a priori basis from which all subsequent discussion will proceed. The syllogisms then pretty much write themselves.

Only Democrats and leftists would protest a fair election, so if those groups are protesting, it follows that the election was most likely above board, no matter what actual evidence there might be to the contrary.

What do “we know” that President Obama doesn’t know? At the press conference on Friday, he said:

I can assure the public that there was not the kind of tampering with the voting process that was our concern and will continue to be of concern going forward, that the votes that were cast were counted, they were counted appropriately.
We have not seen evidence of machines being tampered with, so that assurance I can provide.

At least he didn’t say If you like your election, you can keep it. Period.

I think this is what the OP meant by PITA.

Yeah, darn those [alleged] Russians anyway, ‘interfering’ with the election by exposing all those unsavory behind-the-scenes Democratic machinations and Hillary team criticisms of their own candidate that were never intended for public view. Tsk, tsk, tsk, so unfair!

You won’t hear the “whining” stop for your lifetime. I’m certain that Trump and the Republican takeover are going to go down in history is the beginning of a rapid and permanent decline in America, and a major economic and political disaster for the whole world. Decades or even centuries from now historians will be probably be using Trump as an example of a historic disaster.

There are no checks and balances anymore; the Republicans control it all. Medicare is going away, Social Security is going away. So will the FDA, EPA, and every other constructive or protective function of the government. And no, they won’t be replaced with anything.

Saying that they understood what Trump is like is insulting them.

I can still hear my mom whining about Herbert Hoover beating Al Smith in '28.

Q. When will the whining over Hillary’s loss end?

A. 16 years and counting based on the whining over Gore’s loss. It is just a matter of the level of whining. It will taper off over time, but may not reach zero soon. I haven’t heard many Grover Cleveland supporters complaining about Benjamin Harrison’s 1888 win lately so perhaps the time will come eventually.

From October 2016 rally where Gore appeared with Hillary Clinton (video link starting at 24:17), the crowd react by chanting " You won" at about 25:09 while Gore is speaking on the importance of every vote.

But Hoover thoroughly beat Smith. 444-87 in the Electoral Vote. And 21.4 million to 15 million in the popular vote.

I suppose it is true enough, even those who lost both the EV and PV will have some bemoan that fact even years later.

I’m not so sure about that. A new President cannot undo a Supreme Court appointment made by his/her predecessor. A new President cannot just end a war that the previous President started, or recover all the money spent by the previous President. It’s almost impossible to raise taxes after the previous President lowered it.

No. Because many of the things people are worried about aren’t so much abuses of power rather than refusal to use power because they’d rather benefit another. The root of worrying about equal rights, for instance, isn’t that the government has “too much power” but that it won’t exercise that power to protect people because it would rather allow its allies in the majority to suppress the minority. Taking power away from the government doesn’t do anything to fix that.

Anyway, I was talking to a guy the other day who was STILL going on about how Obama should have lost after Rev Wright and if a white pastor had said those things, by golly, then the media would have stopped him but they all only wanted to see a black man win so they rigged it… anyway, don’t anyone hold your breath.

On November 8, approximately half of the country tried to tamper with the electoral college, as they have every four years since this nation’s founding. That’s the way our system works.

And of course if Trump had got 3 million more votes but lost and we had learned Hillary benefited from Foreign interference, Trump supporters would be taking the loss with grace and decorum…

When her bid for the Presidency in 2016 is in full swing.

Remember, she only lost because of Putin and Comey.
