When you go to (x) restaurant, what is your favorite meal?

When **Bill Knapp’s ** was still around, I loved their bean soup.

**Big Boy ** has a Broccoli soup that is awesome.

A local place Annie McPhee’s serves The Best Chicken Salad Evar that I have ever had any place ( I know, because I realized that at all the bajillion or so other places I’ve ordered a chicken salad or a house salad, my brain always says, " I hope this is as good as McPhee’s." )

Ram’s Horn use to have a yummy fish plate and their roast beef was the best I’ve ever found.

There is a really good hole in the wall Chinese restaurant in the Maryland suburbs of Washington called Hollywood East. My wife and I drive out there a few times a year. We always have General Tsao’s chicken, fried meat dumplings + crispy duck, man is it good.

The only thing I like at Applebee’s is the crispy oriental chicken salad. It’s the only reason I go there, and if they ever take it off the menu, I will be sad indeed.

At any Italian chain, fettucini alfredo with chicken.
At any Chinese restaurant, sesame chicken, wonton soup and egg roll.
At Pizza Hut, Meat Lover’s stuffed crust.
At McDonald’s, the crispy chicken club, large fries and large chocolate shake.
At Burger King, the chicken sandwich, King-size onion rings and King-size diet pepsi.

I used to go to a now-defunct French restaurant that did a to-die-for veal and angel-hair pasta thing and an artichoke toureen that was positively dreamy.

At Outback:

Outback Special, medium-well, with steamed veggies; house salad, no cheese or croutons, with tangy tomato dressing. And a lager.

Madmonk: Where’s Hollywood East? I should give it a try.

It’s in Wheaton, apparently with locations on University Boulevard and Price Avenue.

Arby’s - Beef and Cheddar, no sauce, extra cheddar.
McDonald’s - Big Mac, no lettuce, extra everything else.
Subway - 6" Spicy Italian, with cheese, onion, green pepper, olive, extra pickles and heavy on the vinegar.
Lone Star - 20 oz T-Bone, salad with extra ranch, baked potato, extra butter and sour cream.
Olive Garden - Fettuccine Alfredo.
Red Lobster - Shrimp Scampi
Jimmy’s Charhouse - Shrimp de Johnge
Uno’s - Individual cheese thin crust, well done, pie cut.
Palmer’s - Two eggs sunny side up, hash browns, sausage links, coffee and a glass of milk.
Any chinese place - Mongolian beef.
Portillo’s - Beef and cheddar croissant, extra cheddar.
Burger King - Whopper Jr. with cheese, no lettuce.
Hot Dog Richies - Maxwell St. Polish with onions and mustard.
White Castle - 10 cheeseburgers.

You are making me homesick! And I don’t even live that far away, but there are so many hot dog places near me, I never think to go to Hot Dog Richies when I am out that way! Will have to make a point of it next time!

At Tequila’s, my favorite dish is Sabana Invierno, which is a beef filet pounded flat, topped with refried beans and melted chihuahua cheese, served with tomatillo sauce. Mmmmmmmm.

At Sang Kee’s Peking Duck House, my favorites are:

The General Tso’s Chicken
Hong Kong style duck (Skin is less crispy than Peking)
and the wonton soup.

Both of these are in Philadelphia.

Man, now I’m hungry.

The Connecticut Yankee’s Wade Boggs. No tomatoes, with fries.

Cuca’s, a local Mexican place - the cheese enchilada platter
Las Fuentes, ditto - the enchilada trio, two beef, one chicken
Deng’s, a local Chinese dive - half orange chicken, half bbq pork, fried rice
Isabella’s, an upscale Italian restaurant - either the eggplant parmesan or the chicken marsala
Olives, Todd English’s place in the Bellagio - the roast boar

Otherwise, we tend to hit places with buffets or salad bars so we can customize our meals to however we feel that day.

There’s a pub called C’est What? that does an excellent lamburger and thin, crisp fries.

At Pho Hung I’ll get the stirfried vermicelli with beef and an iced coffee. Mmm, Vietnamese iced coffee.

I really miss the teriyaki beef chow fun at the long-closed Tiger Lily’s.

At Mezes, I always get saganaki, skordalia, and chicken souvlaki.
Now I’m hungry.

Brasil’s - Chicken Verde Pizza with a cup of their house coffee

Chili’s - Buffalo strip salad (horrible for you, but so good!)

Macaroni Grill - Veal Parmegana

Star Pizza - Small cheese new york style pizza, wheat crust, with feta and sun dried tomatoes. Takes a while, but is absolutely amazing pizza.

Empire Cafe - Definately the Corsica: pasta with tomatoe sauce, mushrooms, basil and lots of goat cheese. Plus a cup of coffee, because the cookies that come on the plate are absolutely wonderful!

Ruggles - Warm goat cheese salad. Huge pile of greens with almonds, apple, sundried tomatoes, and a pat of goat cheese. Kinda downhill lately though, I really don’t know why. I only go for their desserts now.

House of Pies - Country breakfast with bacon, coffee and a slice of warm strawberry rhubarb pie. Best consumed around 3 in the morning.

Golden Room - Jalapeno beef with a cup of Thai Tea. Mmm… so good!

Olive Garden: must have some of the zuppa Toscana. Maybe even a refill.
McDonald’s: Big Mac, no pickles.
Marie Livingston’s: Ribeye steak, baked potato, loaded.
A local restaurant called Bianca’s, I always get the Philly Cheesesteak Spaghetti.
Subway: Italian BMT with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, light oil & vinegar, salt & pepper.
Firehouse Subs: New York Steamer
Another local sub place called Looper’s: Super-Looper. One of the best sandwiches, ever.

I was in Los Angeles in 2000, and we went to a deli that was owned by the one member of a famous crime family who never joined the mob. I can neither remember his name, his family nor the name of the deli. However, he made the world’s best Reuben sandwich. Every other one I’ve tried could not hope to measure up to his Reuben, it was some kinda good. If I find out which place it was, and I ever go there again, I will definitely have another Reuben. In fact, I would go out of my way to go there again.

Interestingly, the restaurants at which I have “favorite” dishes are not my favorite restaurants (though some are more of a treat than others; Houlihan’s compared to Taco Bell, for example). When I’m going to a restaurant I really like in a Special Treat kind of way, I usually feel compelled to try something I haven’t tried before.

Neither here nor there, but it’s something I hadn’t realized until this thread. But here’s my answer to the OP:

Houlihan’s: French Onion Soup and the Chicken Fingers appetizer.

Houston’s: Chicken Fingers or, if it’s Saturday, Firehouse Chili.

Taco Bell: #3 with a Diet Pepsi, and sometimes an order of Pintos & Cheese with no sauce and extra cheese.

Any sushi place: California Rolls and Unagi to start, and maybe something else if I’m still hungry.

Superior Phở - Local Vietnamese place: Bahn Mi, Cabbage Salad and Cafe Sua Da. The prefect lunch!

New Wong’s Hunan - Local hole-in-the-wall Chinese: Salt-baked pork, steamed rice and snake beans.

Bangkok Cusine - Local Thai place: I can’t recall the name right now, but it’s a crispy chicken dish served with fried basil leaves and chilies, served over rice.

Any Mexican restaurant with that white chili con queso. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Cracker Barrel - Grilled catfish with mashed potatos, country green beans, apples, and raspberry iced tea
Subway - 6" turkey & ham on honey oat, provolone cheese, tomatos, olives, pickles, mustard, mayo
McDonalds - Crispy chicken club
Tastee Freeze - Footlong hotdog with chili and mustard, season salt fries
Pizza tha Hutt - Stuffed crust pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms

The one is wheaton is the only one to go to. The other locations are inconsistent. On Sat. nights there can be a line for take out so call ahead.
