When your sense of humor goes over like a lead balloon

A couple of weeks ago in nusring school, as the instructor was lecturing about “shaken baby syndrome,” she pantomimed shaking a baby. She continued, “And sometimes they beat them against the wall,” at which point she turned around and proceeded to beat her imaginary baby against the wall.

My friend and I, two of only a handful of males in the room, cracked up. I said to him, “I never thought of that,” and he replied “No, I’ve never tried that – it’s like a how-to lesson!” Several dozen females turned to us and gave us looks that nearly vaporized us…but that made it worse, and we couldn’t stop laughing.
