When's it time to call it quits?

I stumbled across this today and was wondering whether this is a sign of things to come… I hold my hands up - I may be a newbie but ::stands to address room:: “My name is Ralph and I’m a dope-a-holic”.
Perhaps I’m one of the lucky ones - my job involves a lot of research on the Web, hence a 24/7 connection. I don’t yet ‘pay’ for my addiction (although I may well be asking some of you to help find me a new job soon). What happens when people get too far into something ‘virtual’ and can’t get out…

perhaps they become tech gods?

C’mon, you saw “The Matrix”…

Most of us are paid to post here by the Chicago Reader to whip up interest in the actual column. Are you saying that you aren’t? Sucks to be you. That must be a lot of pressure to do an outside job and post here regularly. I made $75,000 from this place last year but it is all I have to do. Sometimes it takes me 4 or 5 hours a day.

Anyone else really curious to know what that guy was playing?
