When's payday?

My shit job pays every Thursday, which is good, because I just cash that one out and use it as my spending money for the week. My good job, pays the first and third Friday of every month, which really helps when it comes time to pay the bills.

Bi-weekly direct deposit, statement comes Wed of the next week. I get paid on Friday but the monies are in my checking account late afternoon Thursday. I dont know how long it takes my child support to get to the boy. The military pays most everybody on the 1st and 15th, the commisary and BX/PX is VERY busy on those days. I’ve never gotten paid weekly or monthly, I’m thinking monthly must suck.

Monthly, on the last working day of the month.

I’ve always been paid monthly in permanent jobs, and weekly for temporary jobs.

It’s been 17 years since I was handed a paper paycheck. I love direct deposit! Now that hubby is about to start a new job, I may need to readjust my budgeting - he can do direct deposit, but he neglected to ask what their pay cycle is. I’ve always handled our finances, so it doesn’t occur to him to ask such mundane questions. If they don’t pay him to match my schedule, it’ll throw me into a tizzy!! Like I need to be tizzied any more…

I am a state worker, so I get every other Friday direct deposit. It’s great. However…for those of you who get bi-montly, that sucks. My ex-husband had a job like that once. He got paid the 1st and 15th if every month. Which means there are 12 1st and 12 15ths in a year. This comes to 24, I always got 26 checks a year. I think bi-monthly sucks.

It is simply what you get used to. When I was working for a living I got paid once a month and my wife and I learned how to deal with it. My workers got paid every Thursday and by Monday most of them were in trouble and trying to figure out who they could borrow money from that week. The answer most of the time was me.

Payday’s are the 5th and 20th.

Another Fed checking in.

It’s every other Tuesday for me. I think you DoD guys are on different timetable than the rest of us Feds. Dad (USAF Ret.) is on a different schedule than me, as well.

Then I saw that Geobabe said:

Yup, I’m Interior, too. Paid on Tuesdays, like I think the rest of the non-DoD gov’t does it.

And finally, to Scarlett67, who opined:

Agreed. You’ll never hear me complain about my job.

“Ehhhh, it’s a livin’ …”.

The 1st and the 15th.

Invoiced the buggers on Friday, expect cheque soon.

The whole concept of not getting paid on a monthly basis is totaly new to me - the only people that I know who are paid on a weekly basis are temp/supply/freelance workers.

FWIW - paid on the 20th of the month (or the Friday before if the 20th falls on a weekend).

Employment history:

1990-91. English teaching assistant, Nara Prefecture Board of Ed, Japan: End of month, single packet, all cash.
1992: Research assistant, law school: weekly checks.
1993: Summer associate, law firm: Biweekly deposit, I think Thursdays.
1994-Spring 95: Contract attorney, small law firm: weekly checks, usually paid on the Tuesday.
Spring 95-97: Associate attorney, small law firm: Biweekly, thursdays, direct deposit. (Same firm, they liked me and hired me full-time).
97-00: Associate, larger law firm: Biweekly, ostensibly Fridays but usually showed up by direct deposit on Wednesdays.
00-01: Associate, large law firm: Semi-monthly, 1st and 16th, direct deposit.
02: Legal writer, editor, small publishing house: Semi-monthly, 15th and 31st, direct deposit.

There was something so real about getting cash, but the direct deposit is much more convenient. It doesn’t really matter for my bills: usually the first paycheck is about wiped out, but the second I’m able to spend and save with. I like the schedule we have now, since it can result in getting paid early if the day falls on a weekend. This month, both are early: the 15th is on a Saturday, there’s no 31st, and the 30th falls on Sunday…Tweet!

Monthl on the 27th, just in time for the bills.

Three paycheck months!! Yay!! I live for April and October or sometimes March and September.

Until June 30 I get paid every two weeks but just found out I get to be exempt next year so starting August 1, every month. It’s going to be quite an adjustment to not blowing it all in the first week of the month.

No more timesheet though! [sniff]our little gigi is growing up[/sniff]

My payday is biweekly on fridays, i get paid in a couple days,
i get a paper cheque.

Well Most ssi people get paid between the 30th and the first …

Its been all direct deposit for about 4 or 5 years now per federal law

Although Some people get their money a day early … My aunt seems to get her money for my handicapped cousin this way so i get a phone call every month asking if id gotten it yet

Does anyone know the exact regulations on how ssi pays out ?

In the UK, permanent employees are usually paid monthly. For me, it’s on the 6th.

My first real job, in the RAF, I used to get paid weekly. A whole £11. And that was after board and lodging. I was 19 with nothing to spend it on (I hardly drank in those days), so I saved about a fiver a week.

Weekly.

I’m a temp. Fax my timesheet into my agency on Friday, it’s processed on Tuesday, I get my check Thursday.

Which means payday is tomorrow! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Biweekly for me, biweekly for the hubby, and we get paid on different weeks…so EVERY Friday is payday.
[sub]not that it matters…grumble, grumble…[/sub]

Boy, I HOPE I get paid this Friday. Things ain’t lookin’ too good here at the office.
