Ours is the end of July. Which is the earliest I’ve heard of.
The Calgary Stampede was in ealy July. I think it always starts the first weekend of July. Next year it starts July 4.
The one here is in late August, usually around the 20th or so. School is usually in session by then, so I haven’t been in ages. This year, it’s the 16th-24th.
Last weekend was the Murillo fair. A horse and rider gymkana, horse races, and chariot races.
This weekend is the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition. A travelling midway, several buildings of trade exhibits.
The first weekend in September is the Hymers fair. Several barns exhibiting local animals, foods and crafts. A delightful fair.
Right now. Started Tuesday, ends Sunday.
I’m not going.
I’m saving up my cash and fat, calorie, and choleterol reserve for the State Fair, which runs 22 August through Labor Day.
County fair here is in early November. The Georgia state fair IIRC is in early October.
San Diego County Fair takes place each year roughly from mid-June to a few days after July 4.
It has a central theme each year; 2002 theme was “Elvis: A Tribute to the King of Rock & Roll”
St. Louis County Fair is Labor Day weekend. Bud clydesdales, BBQ, beer school, rides, BBQ, kettle corn, air show with Blue Angels, BBQ, fireworks, and more. Best of all, it’s just a couple minutes from home.
Best thing about fairs is eating yourself into a food coma. There’s not much better than fair food.
The Columbia County Fair runs Labor Day weekend, from Thursday to Monday. There’s a midway, two demo derbies, a concert from either a washed-up rock star or an obscure country singer (occasionally both; once we had a former Doobie Brother and Billy Ray Cyrus on separate nights, I don’t know who’s on the schedule this year), racing pigs, a petting zoo, a midway, a huge building full of chickens, the 4-H cow and sheep paddock and judging, and a poster contest for kids 10 and under - this year’s subject is something to do with firefighters or something, I think.
August 21-25. I wish it was longer but I can’t complain. I get to get in free because I man an info booth for three hours.
Tomorrow’s the last day for Ventura County. It’s been going on for two weeks. Deep-fried snickers bar on a stick!

Spider Woman and I went.
Yeah, I know. If I’d have gotten out of bed before five I might’ve given you guys a call…
Grampa started the 4-H auction at the fair, BTW (runs on Wednesday night. He’s missed one year since it began about 45 years ago.
The fair is fun, but there is simply not enough food on a stick
This probably doesn’t count, but from June to August is just one huge festival in Montreal after another.
Our County Fair is about the middle of October. Until reading this thread, I thought all County Fairs were in the fall.
After harvest, Ray Bradbury’s October Country, and all that, ya’ know.
Prince William County Fair, August 9-17.
Largest fair in Virginia. I might go to the demolition derby tomorrow.
Utah’s seems to be Sept 5-15. I haven’t been in years. No one fun to go with. Want to come to Utah hillbilly queen?
Ugly
The Texas State Fair is from September 27 to October 20. Sadly, I’ll be in Pennsylvania. sigh

(having visions of the what the New York County Fair might look like.)

Maybe start with animal husbandry, lawyer-breeding division, where Bobby Garcia, age 16, and his sister Joanna, age 12, won a blue ribbon for their “Culpa Cue” hybrid. Culpa Cue is the first breed developed especially for Court TV, reflecting the Garcias’ successful incorporation of traits from a Purdue-developed SportCenter host breeding line…
Ours is the Thursday before Labor Day until Labor Day.
