Hi there. I have a recipe for european peanut butter chocolates, and one of the ingredients is cocoa butter, I’ve been searching online to find a store that sells it, but haven’t found anything yet. Do any of you know of a store in New York that might have it?
Thanks.
Cocoa butter is a cooking ingredient? I alway thought it was a moisturizer. You might want to check a drugstore where – I think – I’ve seen it.
There are several soap-supply sites (I’d go with www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com or www.brambleberry.com) that carry cocoabutter as well. Make sure that you’re ordering food grade when you call. (I’m not sure that you can even purchase non-food grade cocoabutter, but it’s worth doublechecking.)
Order extra and make body butters! It’s great for your skin.
Best,
karol
Thanks for the help, I’ll check those websites out.
One other thing to note is that white chocolate is really just cocoa butter, sugar, powdered milk, and vanilla (sometimes). Perhaps you can figure out a way to sub white chocolate in there.
Great idea cheesesteak. I was actually trying to find a substitute, so thanks a lot. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Cheers
You can buy it at any drugstore. It’s in the lotions area (and it’s usually in the area of lotions marketed to people of color, if your drugstore is big enough to have separate lotion groupings.) It comes in a one ounce stick (sort of like a large chapstick, or a tube of mini M&Ms) and as such is fairly pricey. If you can find it at a bakery supply or a soap-supply place as bodypoet mentioned (I also suggest www.snowdriftfarms.com) you’ll get a much better price.
I just called wholefoods, and they sell it as well.
