For years I have been saying I really would like Dr Pepper to come in “tall boy” cans. Sometimes 12 ounces just isn’t enough, but bottled Dr Pepper just isn’t the same.
Then one day I was on a weekend vacation of sorts in Tucson. As I was about to head back home, I stopped at a gas station and was struck by the second most beautiful thing I’d seen at the time: A 16 ounce can of Dr Pepper!
I could never find any back home and could only find them in that gas station (possibly others in the area but I never checked).
I am afraid they’re probably discontinued as part of a promotion or something, but are these magnificent specimens of Dr Pepperiness still available for purchase? If so, where?
EDIT: Also, glass bottles of Dr Pepper would also be nice, but glass bottles tend to make drink cost way too damn much for as regular and frequent consumption as I’m use to.
The linked picture was a random one I found on the internet, but I do still have two cans because I’m a huge geek.
Here’s what the can says: Canned by a member of the Coca-Cola Bottler’s Association, Atlanta, GA 30327, under the authority of Dr Pepper company, 5301 Legacy Drive, Plano, TX 75024.
Anything that I missed that will help me get in touch with them? How 'bout some of these cryptic numbers on the bottom of the can?

5DB0916 1 Lanzy: How recently? And yes, I only saw them individually as well.
I don’t know where to find the 16 ounce cans. I just wanted to stop in and mention how much I love Dr. Pepper.
When I was little my folks kept almost no soft drinks in the house. They were reserved for special occasions, a real treat.
But my grandfather loved Dr. Pepper.(this is the mid-1960’s) Each time we visited our grandparents my sisters and I would each receive a bottle of Dr. Pepper all to ourselves!
We didn’t have to share! One of the many minor reasons I adored my grandfather. To this day I love Dr. Pepper, even though I’m an adult and can have as much soda as I want, whenever I want.
I happen to live in Plano and know exactly where this is. Would you like me to stop by and ask them about 16 oz cans?
My ex-wife (many, many years ago) had me stop in and ask about the awful Dr. Pepper gum, and they loaded me up with like 6 cases of the shit to take home.
I just called Dr. Pepper Customer Relations (1-800-696-5891) and spoke to a representative.
She said her information should include all products and sizes currently being produced in the United States, including independent bottlers and it did not show that 16 ounce cars are currently in production anywhere.
She did not have an information source that would be able to confirm when/where such might have been done in the past.
Baker: That’s a nice story. I don’t have any meaningful reason for loving Dr Pepper as much as I do, sadly.
CheapBastid: I would have cleaned them out too! And great picture. “Enjoy life more!” if I had a 16oz can of cane sugar Dr Pepper I would definitely enjoy life more.
prettydorky: The person I was in Tucson to see.
Bambro: Six cases? Damn! What did you do with it all? Straight to the trash? Donate to charity? Mail them back?
obfuciatrist: Well I have no reason to live anymore. Thanks.
Dr. Pepper subcontracts a lot of its bottling to Coke, Pepsi, or whoever’s available. This means you get regional variations - such as the 24 pack. Some places it’s a ‘brick’ (one layer, 4x6), some places it’s the ‘Cube’ (two layers, 3x4).
