Dunno if anyone’s said it yet but there’s no good conservative message boards!
It depends on how you define “real world”.
www.ricochet.com. You have to pay to post and to access some content, but you can see much of the site for free. The cost is $3.67 a month (price of a Starbucks latte according to their FAQ) or $29.95 for a full year. It’s actually something between a standard opinion site with comments and a bulletin board.
If conservative=family values to you, Sitnam, try www.whiteracistbigot.com
Nah, just browse conservapedia.com for a fix.
In your opinion, of course. I happen to disagree.
The Volokh Conspiracy leans right/libertarian, and has a lot of thoughtful discussion. However, it’s a blog, so you can only comment on other people’s blog posts, and it’s largely restricted to discussion of legal issues.
So, where was your factual, historical or economic basis for claiming libraries were a waste of tax dollars (damn those unionised librarians!)?
Bad example. There are a number of prominent Republicans who take a pro-choice stance (for example, off the top of my head, Giuliani and Condi Rice come to mind).
Can you think of any nationally prominent Democrat politicians who are openly pro-life? Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Ted Kennedy, etc. did previously express pro-life views at the state level but of course changed their views once they were on the national level. Democrats for Life tried to get some language in the 2012 Dem platform to be inclusive of pro-life Dems, but was shot down. So, no, I don’t think the right is the side that is engaging in “groupthink” on abortion. There is far more tolerance for pro-choice views among Rs than pro-life views among Ds.
Anyway, I agree with those who posted that your best best for messageboard format conservative sites would be http://www.freerepublic.com http://www.reddit.com/r/conservative and http://trueblueliberty.com/
However a lot of conservative blogs have pretty active comment sections.
You could try the comment areas over at http://www.theamericanconservative.com/ (more paleo-conservative so not always in line with current Republican thinking) http://www.hotair.com and http://www.breitbart.com for that sort of thing.
Why don’t the secessionists, especially the ones from Texas, just move to Mexico and then declare whatever Mexican state they settled in to be an independent republic? A somewhat similar plan worked once before. Of course, this time around the Mexican army is a little better trained and equipped. And the drug cartels, which are arguably at least as well armed, might have a thing or two to say about the matter. It’d all be worth it though, just for the decapitated secessionist photos that would start flooding the internet about 15 minutes after they declared their new republic.
I think you’re in the wrong thread.
Yes, I absolutely am. Clearly, that having more than one window open to the same website thing is a bad idea in my case.
You should have played it off and pretended you were talking about people seceding from the SDMB.
AboveTopSecret may fit the bill.
Harry Reid.
If you’re using whether or not people get their desired text into the convention platform as a benchmark, then you’ll be able to demonstrate concessions to the pro-choice movement in the Republican platform.
Bart Stupak comes to mind. He’s the Democrat who held up Obamacare until they inserted an amendment (the so-called Stupak amendment) that prevented the change of existing laws that prevent the use of federal money for abortion.
The Fox news website has a discussion forum.
