Where can I find a sweater like this?

This is a screen shot of a sweaterfrom an episode of Inspector Lewis. It has full length sleeves, and there’s this shawl that is mysteriously attached to one side so that it may be flung artfully over the opposite shoulder. I don’t know if it buttons up somehow under the shawl or if it’s a pullover (jumper). I seem to recall seeing it in a catalog or two in the past. I’m having no luck searching because I don’t know what to call it. I’ve tried variations of Irish shawl wrap sweater. Does anyone have any idea what it’s called and where I can get one online? Thx.

I had some luck doing a Google image search for “shawl with sleeves”. A lot of the results were unhelpful Pinterest links, knitting patterns, regular shawls or scarves, etc. but some seemed like the sort of thing you’re looking for.

YouTube video demonstrating how this brand’s version works. The actual item is here.
A less expensive variety.

There were others that might work, but the models were just wearing them like a cardigan, rather than showing how or if they could be wrapped up.

Good searching! I didn’t think of including the word “sleeves.”

Thisis sort of like it. Hard to tell because there’s only one view. Looks like a pullover.

Can’t figure out how the hell thisone works.

If you go to the knitter’s website Ravelry and search under Patterns for “shawls with sleeves” you will find several of them. Of course if you find one you like, then you will have to either knit it or get someone to knit it.

Sorry I don’t have any helpful suggestions for the OP, but since several others have chimed in with ideas, I would just like to say that Pinterest is ruining Google search. Lately it seems like whenever I use GIS to find photos, so that I can work backward from there and find informative text, instead of getting hits with helpful links I get nine million stupid Pinterest examples.

Basically I hate Pinterest but my feelings are not strong enough to warrant making a Pit thread. Anyway, bah!

Agreed! I usually append a Google image search with a “-site:pinterest.*”

This is similar, but more of a scarf with sleeves.

This is similar.

Or when all else fails, John Lindlar was the Costume Designer for the show. An email to him might get a response. http://www.johnlindlar.com/contact.html

Done.

Just add [-pinterest] to the search code. I feel the same way. I wish I could make that a default addition instead of having to type it in every time.

Thanks for that! I too hate Pinterest turning up uselessly when you’re trying to find something.

Yes, thanks! I echo Carol’s distaste.
