What I’d like to find is a website that shows all the new popular songs that get played on various radio stations. It would hopefully show the artist, song and album name, along with offering a short downloadable sample. Some radio station websites offer a half-assed service similar to this, showing only the top 10 or 30 songs or something, and most of the time they don’t let you hear any samples. CDNOW does a bit better job, but some of the newest stuff on the radio isn’t even out on CD, so CDNOW and Amazon don’t have any samples. Since radio stations refuse to identify any of the songs they play, it makes it difficult to find the songs I hear on the radio and like. Maybe they don’t want me to buy their music?
That might work if I wasn’t so bad with lyrics or music. What i’d like to find are the songs that I hear once or twice, and like, but don’t get enough of a chance to identify or remember lyrics and sometimes I can’t really remember much of the melody either.
What exactly do you mean by putting “a few bars into google”?
As for KaZaa and WinMX, I’d rather just get a short sample than download the whole song just to ID it.
Well say you heard a song on the radio, you go to google and enter “here we are born to be kings lyrics”,some lyrics pages come up,boom your song is Queen - Princes of the universe.
Ok so maybe everyone knows that one
I really can’t think of another way,or a site that offers what you want.
But! there was a now defunct sony gadget called the eMarker that you would have loved,i still have it in fact even though its now a paperweight.
