That’s my point, its an infinite loop. You can keep pointing out that we can still “talk like adults” in the pit. I can keep pointing out how stupid and arbitrary the rule is. I don’t disagree with you. Of course there are ways around it. Which only shows how stupid the rule is. A total ban on R-rated language would piss me off. This just makes my shake my head.
We really need some kind of parable or story or something, where one of the admins climbed a mountain and retrieved the sacred naughty words list from Cecil himself, who was cradling Baby Jesus at the time. It’s getting ridiculous. Miller just put a mod note in a pit thread for inappropriate language. The offending words were “blow me”. We apparently have to have cleaner language in the pit than prime time TV. It’s absurd.
The poster apparently broke the rules and no official warning was given, so what’s the prob?

The guy who runs this message board has decided that there are certain words and phrases that he doesn’t wish to be used on said message board, and because he is the one running this message board he is under no obligation to justify his decisions to me, you, or any other poster. I(and apparently the majority of other posters on this board) don’t find this confusing and/or insane at all.

It occurs to me that it is completely within the rules for me to claim that a poster wants to blow somebody else, but it is against the rules to ask that poster to blow me.

I absolutely agree with your stated position. Ed has the right to restrict any language he wants. He is under no obligation to justify his position. I not only get it, I agree with it. And I think the rule continues to be arbitrary and stupid. They are not mutually exclusive positions. Get it?

I haven’t made any claims that a “tiny” number of people think the rules are stupid. You are citing one thread, posted years after the changes were made, and assuming that anyone who is not posting in the thread must be a-ok with them. Just because people follow the rules or don’t complain doesn’t mean they don’t think they are stupid rules, and I refuse to believe that you don’t consider that.
