Grey,*
Ah… You mean the hysterical reaction of dear Mehitable on a joke.
Well, I explained it to her once more on an other thread, if I recall well on this forum. You should follow up those things a little better.

Who’s joking? That was a sufficiently nasty turn of phrase that several posters called you on it. You never clarified or retracted it.
Ilsa, what is it that you misunderstand in that popst?
I know my English is not always clear, but to me that is clearly saying:
I wouldn’t even bother to take any action be against any anonymous poster on a message board. Let be that I would invest money and effort in such an action.
Salaam. A
Grey,
Yes I did clarify it and no, there was no need at all to “retract” anything since there was nothing there to “rectract”.
Like I said: you should follow up things if you have comments on them.

Grey,
If you take the joke you just quoted as “serious” then I must suggest you to get some reading glasses and maybe a drink to become sober.

I’m simply saying that whatever this particular “threat” the mods are reviewing it’s not your first. I’m not evening trying to remember all the asinine things you say to other posters and I can pull up 2-3 questionable “jokes”. The blood cover sword was just the most recent that I know of.
They’re not very good jokes by the way. They’re not even clever word games.
This is getting a bit out of hand (surprise surprise). Aldebaran, I think that you probably mean well, but it’s not a good idea to suggest that you know how to find people, but that they can’t find you.
The first time you used the words “let be”, it was in a context where “let alone” was the obvious translation from Alde-speak into English. This latest effort, however, could also be interpreted as “let it be understood”.
Grey,
Let me help you a bit.

Gosh, no. However, I think that a good example would be set if even subtle or sarcastic implications of “consequences” were viewed with zero tolerance, and so I might have asked the Mods to tell him to knock it off.
Just advice from a friend, Alde, since I value your input here. Be careful.

Well, I’m always ready to help people. Here I’m preventing them to get disappointments
Yes… Well, I should think that the members here would be used to the Aldebaran’s New English Dictionary Style by now.
On the other hand: If people insist not to, I can’t do anything against that.
There are however members like you (and even Ilsa, who does not exactly considers me as “a friend” did this on this very thread) who ask me to clarify when something is not clear at first sight or who correct my sometimes weird use of the language. They do that without getting hostile and without hysterical screaming.
That courtesy is very much appreciated.

Well you’ve missed my point, or I made it badly. Regardless you don’t apologize much better than you joke.
You think that a policy of “zero tolerance” should be in place?
Zero Tolerance and Fighting Ignorance don’t really go hand in hand IMO.
He was warned about making “Making direct threats against other posters”. I see no real threat anywhere in that thread coming from him and it’s why I’m arguing.
As I said if they want to ban anyone they can but it’s this bending of reality that I’ve got a problem with.
Grey,
I didn’t “apologize” at all since there was nothing to “apologize” for.
I made it clear to that member that indeed there was nothing to “apologize” for, coming from my side.
She should apologize to me for her hysterical over-reaction (instigated by an other member, by the way. She didn’t react at all to that joke I made there until an other member made it “a threat” which ovbiously brought her to some ideas for exploiting something that isn’t even there) and for her bringing it even to an other forum and for her making it sound as if I am out to kill her.
If you don’t see that, that is not my fault.

While Aldebaran’s style and attitude could use some improvement, I do think that posting something to the effect of “if you attack my country expect me to fight back” cannot reasonably be construed as a threat. Maybe a promise but not a threat.
This animal is very wicked, when attacked it will defend itself.
It seems to me defending you country when it is being attacked would be the honorable thing to do and not what I would probably do which is to run and hide.
Well, I have to leave now.
If we don’t meet eachother back on this message board:
Goodbye and may God bless you.
It was a pleasure interacting with you all.
If this is the case I do want to ask that the moderator would close this threat since I wouldn’t be able to reply.
Salaam. A
Make that “threat” into “thread”…
Or else people shall claim that even in my last post here I posted a “threat”.
Salaam. A
See? That was actually clever.
Aldebaran, if you need a clarification on what Lynn objected to, you could have just E-mailed her. I’m just sayin’.
The board has a policy, in effect for some time now, against one poster wishing death on another poster, even as a ‘joke’. There’s a sticky in this very forum; the first line reads something like: “wishing death on another poster is a no-no, even in the Pit”.
Can you please explain to me where you find Aldebaran has “wished death on another poster”? Please explain how you arrive at your interpretation.
And another martyr prepares to ride into the sunset on his fiery Arabian steed.
Not my call to make, but I didn’t perceive a “threat” by Aldebaran in the linked thread. Juvenile responses more suited to a playground squabble than an SDMB thread, yes…but not a threat.
