Where do you intend to travel abroad when all this is over?

Travel restrictions still exist across much of the world. I don’t have the wanderlust I once had but have been considering Scotland visits and more elaborately, interrailing around Europe once it is safe to do so. What are your post-Rona travel plans?

  1. Japan to see my son, his wife, and my granddaughters.
  2. North, to see the Aurora Borealis

South Korea, to see my in-laws.

Easter Island, the vacation that was canceled. Camino de Santiago. Train across Eastern Europe. Canada. Okay, anywhere.

I have 3 months in South African game reserves later in the year, cancelled last year. Travel requirements even if I left today seem to just be a PCR test <3 days before travel, exactly the same in both directions. So I very much hope it should all go ahead as planned this time.

I would like to go to Japan again, and so would my Japanese husband. He wants to see his family, I want to go shopping. But at the rate they’re (not) putting out vaccinations, it’s going to be months and months before (ironically) they let foreigners in without isolation.

To the US, from Australia, to visit family. No real idea when that will be; the pace of vaccination in general in Australia has been quite slow. Federal budget estimates seem to suggest that the middle of next year is the target for lifting travel restrictions to and from Australia.
If some of the restrictions are lifted for those vaccinated, then maybe sooner. My wife and I will get our second shots at the end of July, and can be confident a couple of weeks after. Fingers crossed; my folks are old, and not in good health.

(I’m in the UK)

Vegas, baby - Vegas! :sunglasses:

Canada, to visit my wife’s and my extended family. (We both have some there.)

Singapore, because I had a trip there planned last year which got canceled.

I’m already going to Scotland In June (from England, not breaking any rules). I plan to go to mainland Europe as soon as I’m allowed. I’ve been faintly planning a bit of Greek Island hopping, and also have some loose plans for the Italian Lakes. Don’t have plans for any longer haul plans just yet, I’ve been pining for a bit of mediterranean weather, beach, wine and food, so that’s my focus (yes, I do realise the Italian Lakes and Greece aren’t precisely mediterranean, but you get the picture).

Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and Ecuador. We have friends in the latter two, and have been itching to visit the former two. We want to take six weeks for the entire excursion. We were planning this for February but because some things came up in the lives of our friends we may have to wait until 2023.

Most likely Japan for work, but I generally stay two weekends and get some tourist time in while I am there.

I’d like to make it to Rome soon. I spent a lot of time in Northern Italy but never made it to Rome or the Vatican.

I’m going to Finland in August.

To the US to see all my kids and grandkids. To Barbados for a winter break next January.

Germany, Slovakia, Italy, France

Germany, a trip which was cancelled in 2020.
Probably S Arabia.

We were set to go to Naples last summer. Mrs Magill has cousins there that she’s never met. Maybe next summer.

Probably Ireland, if only because it was next on my travel bucket list.

So many places I wish I could visit, but so little time and money …

I’d say my #1 choice thus far would be Japan. I played on Nintendo consoles religiously when I was a kid, and it’d be neat to make a “pilgrimage” to their headquarters in Kyoto. Also, one of my favorite athletes is from Japan and I’d like to see him in action at least once before he retires.

During this time I’ve managed to go to Columbus, Ohio (2 hours away!) and then 6 months later Cincinnati, Ohio (4 hours away!). I hope next to go as far as Niagra Falls. But I legit need to get a passport first.
