Grimald Place?
The town his parents lived and died in? (Sorry, forgot the name)
“the country(side)”?
Someplace else?

Somewhere close to London. The last scene of all was Harry and his children at Kings Cross station
Not necessarily. The Hogwarts Express never stops at any other station until it gets to Hogsmeade. Yet most of the main players we see in the books and the films are on the train at some stage, so they must have got on at Kings Cross.
We know from the books and the films that Neville is from somewhere in the North of England; Seamus is Irish in the books and the films. Luna is Irish in the films and Cho is Scottish in the films; though I don’t recall that being mentioned in any of the books. And in the books Luna and her Dad live near the Weasley family home. Mind you, the assorted accents of the Weasley siblings lead me to believe that The Burrow spends its time meandering between London and Birmingham.
Cho is Scottish? I thought she was Asian. Or are you saying she’s a Scot of Asian descent?
I’m okay with them living in Grimmauld Place.
Does the fact that they drove to King’s Cross make this unlikely?
I think they live in Godric’s Hollow.
Because Harry, of course, renovated Grimmauld Place and turned it into an orphanage for pre-Hogwarts aged magical orphans. To try to prevent situations like Tom Riddle’s and his own, plus the war left a lot of kids without parents.
I don’t think anything is said about her ethnicity in the book, aside from the clearly Chinese name and maybe a mention of black hair. In the movie, she very clearly looks Asian and sounds Scottish, so one presumes that she’s a second or third generation descendant of Chinese immigrants to Scotland.
i figured on grimmauld place as he works in the ministry of magic.
We don’t really know where Godric’s Hollow is–for all we know it’s a suburb of London…
My next questions along the same lines;
Does Kreecher still serve him and his family?
Does he ever see Dudley again? They seem to have made peace before the end of the books, but is he “family” after that, or a distant memory? I could see never seeing Uncle Vernon again - he’s entirely unpleasant and always hated Harry. But Dudley and Petunia are his only BLOOD FAMILY on Earth.
The epilog to Book 7 was missing a couple of paragraphs.
Harry sees Dudley at Platform 9 3/4. Dudley is there to put his daughter, Petunia, on the Hogwart’s Express. Petunia is pleased to see her Uncle Harry, and Harry wishes her well at Hogwart’s. Harry asks Dudley about his mother, and Dudley replies that she is just as proud as can be about young Petunia’s acceptance to Hogwarts, “but it’s probably just as well that Dad isn’t here to see it.” Petunia hugs Dudley and Harry, and hurries off with her cousins to get on the train.
And if it ain’t true, it oughta be.
Oh, and Dobby and Winky’s illegitimate son, HarryPotter, comes to work for Harry and Ginny, who allow Kreacher to retire from active housework and serve as teacher and mentor to the youngster (who is, of course, a free elf).
I don’t think that’d be in there, but not because it may not be true. But rather because Vernon dropped dead of a stroke the moment little whassername’s Hogwarts letter arrived.
“MY GRANDCHILD IS A… ack! (thud)”
Yah, sure. Dudley met Hestia’s granddaughter, Romilda Vane, while they were in the safe house, and the chemistry (okay, alchemy) was just perfect.
I think it would be a hoot if JKR went on the internet and wrote fanfic.
Did they definitely drive? If they did, it hadn’t occured to me but yeah, it would be pretty unlikely for them to drive to King’s Cross from there - even with magic, the traffic would be a nightmare and the parking would cost a galleon every ten minutes.
That sounds most likely to me. Though I’m enjoying the fanfic suggestions on this thread.
No way - far, far too remote.
Rowling did a sort of official interview where she said that Harry and Dudley were still in touch, but only in the sort of ‘sending Christmas cards to each other’ way. That’s sad, but I guess not unlikely - even after they got over their childhood hatred they would have had little in common.
Hah! Wouldn’t it be funny if some famous author were actually doing that? I wouldn’t put it past Stephen King.
According to numerous places on the net, Godric’s Hollow is in the West Country, but I don’t know of any place in the book that actually says that.
The Burrow, the Weasley’s house, is near the fake town of Ottery St. Catchpole, which sounds like it would be on the Otter River in Devon or Sommerset.
Has Rowling ever said what Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny ended up doing for a living? It had always seemed to me that Hermione was going to grow up to be Professor McGonagall redux, but obviously she didn’t, since she and Ron were clearly sending their kids off to Hogwarts. Harry said he wanted to be an auror, but she doesn’t say in the books. (He showed a clear knack for teaching in TOotP, but obviously he isn’t at Hogwarts as an adult either.)
If I recall correctly (from an interview with JKR):
Hermione: Govt service until she ended up in the Dept of Magical Law Enforcement.
Harry: Head Auror for the ministry under Kingsley Shacklebolt
Ron: Partner and Business Manager for Weasley Wizarding Wheezes
Ginny: Seeker for the Harpies then sports reporter for the Daily Prophet.
Thanks!
Ron asks Harry if he parked alright. Ron and Hermione definitely drove.
But really, any magical family could get to London by Floo Powder, so it would not be that hard to get to the station.
