I really enjoy this sport during the Olympics. Where in Europe is it popular? Is it mainly international play among European nations or is there also club level play? Seems like it might be a fun event to attend next time I’m in Europe.
There’s a lot of club play in Scandinavia and as little as I pay attention to the sport except for the occasional international match I know that Scandinavian players play at the club level in at least Austria and I assume other European countries.
Scandinavia and Northern Europe in general is going to be the biggest place for it, however there does appear to be support in all sorts of areas. The channel beIN sports in the US has carried Champions League handball games in the past, which is club teams–I saw teams from Barcelona and other Southern European countries.
