Where in the world is the MMP?

The same goes for me. The only thing that has changed it that I admire your courage and resilience even more.

Butter is always better, man after my own heart. Thanks so much for the recipe, and as soon as my Bob’s Red Mill medium arrives I will give it a try.

My arrival time is 12:15, so I slept in a bit. Chloé and I had a good walk in the daylight. Apparently, I am a heartless human being, since I will not let her play with the birds. I think I’m the exact opposite. I’ve seen what she’s done to her stuffed birds.

I can have no food or drink until then, so (of course) I am very thirsty. I did have a swallow of water when I got up, so I could take my meds. I do not want to skip those. I accidentally did once. I will not repeat that again. That was not a good day.

Thank you everyone for your support. It’s nice to know that a couple dozen turing machines have got my back. Thank you, you magnificent imaginary people.

FCM I am officially jealous of your trip. Will you post photos to your facebook?

I’ve only been to Krystal’s once. It was in downtown Atlanta. There was a homeless guy who was negotiating a business exchange with two working girls. I’ve not been to a Krystal’s since.

BBBoo - What you say is very logical, and I have every intention to let them know how anxious I am. Unfortunately, I have a severe dislike of being an imposition and a penchant for self-sabotage. Luckily, I’ll have a Mrs Magill with me.

Oddly enough, this does not reassure me, I don’t like feeling trapped. man - I really will need the good drugs.

Right. I know I’ll be okay - I’m still droll.

Imgur

They might not have Mrs Magill in the pre-op room with you, so she may not be able to advocate for you. Most places point to the waiting room and send the family member/friend/driver home to it. Steel yourself that you are going to have to be able to ask for the help, rehearse a couple of sentences before hand so it’s easier. Heck, write it out on a piece of paper and hand it to them.

You are not being an imposition! You are allowing people with skills and valuable experience do the job they love with the best results, you are giving them something! A chance to be the best and do what they love and are good at~give them that gift.

300 Slide again. The Screwup Fairy took a vacation day, so it wasn’t too bad. I came home, gave Spot attention till he got bored and wandered off. Breakfast was a pig, egg, and cheddar mcmuffin.

The compactor on the big bin is pinnin’ or the fjords, so we have a Big Orange Skip to heave trash into now.

I had it at the Etlannter airport once. Temu White Castle.

From last MMP:

“I’m going to freak out, and start biting people. Sorry.” - me, whenever I need eye surgery.

:+1:

Tell them this too and they will wait to secure you until after the anesthetist has given you a little extra squirt of the good stuff-you won’t even know about the straps. I have PTSD and had to clearly ask for that and several other accommodations, they were glad I asked. Just tell them.

Your Monday morning cat video on a Tuesday. You know you want it. The cutest walking-away cat on the planet. Check out the jodpurs.

Words fail me in expressing how much I wish I had seen her first! She is all beauty and attitude and she knows it.

Notice, though, how she keeps looking back and checking that you are still there. She knows a good berth when she sees it.

But the bedrooms have their own showers. From the layout, it looks like what we have on our sailboat. Thanks to you and BBBoo for the layout drawings. It’ll help with the planning. Looks like for the longer leg, we’ll need to pack several changes of clothes and check our big bags. I guess I assumed our luggage would be with us. I’ve added pics of the layouts to my travel folder.

Otis wanted the squirrels when we walked yesterday. Unfortunately for him, I had a good grip on his leash, and I still outweigh him so I had that going for me.

I will, but probably as Friends Only. I tend to avoid Public posts because I’ve gotten some creepy messages back when I did. So anyone who wants the full story will have to be my friend. I will post on the Dope - probably a thread of its own rather than overwhelm the MMP for 3 weeks.

“Stop taking video of my ass!!!”

I emptied the truck of the last of the wisteria cuttings, then got ‘nanners, grapes, and cukes. On the other side of the parking lot, I got a couple of 4-packs of petunias and a pot pot o’ creeping phlox. They’ll all live in the garage till Firday, since we’ve got a couple of really cold nights ahead and I don’t want to plant anything yet.

Since I’m reluctant to venture out, I suppose I could do some roll-suckage. I suppose.

{{{Mollie}}}, it’s what the MMP is for. Plus, you don’t want any of these folks to trout you.

Really isn’t room, even in a bedroom, for the size and number of luggage you will have packed for a three week cruise. When the beds are down and set up there really isn’t room to open up a full sized bag and dig around for things. You’ll want to go with soft duffles or tote bags that can hold the minimum 3 day supply of toiletries, pjs and maybe two changes of clothes. Soft, stretchy, comfy clothes that can be layered up or down and mix and match well. Emphasis on stretchy and comfy.

What city/station are you getting on the train at (you can pm or FB messenger me that)? That determines whether or not you can check bags. Let me know so I don’t launch into a convoluted unnecessary description of the ins and outs of Amtrak bag management. Lots of specifics.

I’d encourage you to rethink the idea of bringing your supply of Diet Coke. One, you or FCD will have to schlep it up and down those twisty steep stairs and down long narrow train aisles to your bedroom, on and off two trains. Two, as aforementioned, once you get it to your room, there really isn’t much space to stash 12 packs of pop-you’ll have to be stepping around or over it every time you move. Three, why spend thousands of $$ on a first class dream of a train trip and then put yourself through all that aggravation to save ten bucks a day? $3 a can is still a lot cheaper than what you’ll pay for cold drinks on the cruise ship.

You each get a free alcoholic drink with your dinner-I bet you could convince your dining car waiter to sub in a can or two of Diet Coke for that drink and carry it back to your bedroom to have for your morning libation without having to fetch them from the cafe car snack bar first thing. Your attendant will bring you some glasses of ice if you let them know the night before of what time to bring them. In a sleeper you can get as many bottles of free drinking water as you want.

The food in the dining car is so good and satisfying I’d be surprised if you needed to buy food snacks from the cafe car. Lot s of people take their dessert back to their room and snack on it later. Stashing a couple of quart ziplock freezer bags in your purse will facilitate that. I’m envious~I had a flat iron steak dinner many years ago on the train and decades later I still remember how good it was. If I was on the train now I’d probably eat that flat iron steak for dinner every night. The breakfast French toast is renowned far and wide too.

We did a sleeper car from Portland to MSP and back. Those rooms are tiny. The porter will fold up the beds during the day so you can sit. The bathroom is very small, as well. As for luggage, as I recall our larger bag was just stuffed into a well on the lower level and could be accessed if need be, although it would likely be a problem if it’s on the bottom of other bags.

The Amtrack rails at that time (probably the mid-00’s) were in deplorable condition. No idea if they’ve replaced those bad stretches, but the train had to slow to a crawl to get through them. Also, anytime there is an oncoming freight train, Amtrack has to pull off onto a siding to let it go by. I think it took 42 hours to get from Portland to MSP. Honestly, between the noise and bad tracks I really had trouble sleeping on that thing. The food was good and sleeper car people got called to meals first.

We go from Washington to Chicago, then fart around a few hours before getting on the next train to Fullerton, where we’ll change again for San Diego.

As for the cruise, we’ll just have one big rolly bag each, plus a carry-on tote. The ship has a coin laundry 4 doors down from our cabin, and frankly, all we need are jeans and t-shirts or polo shirts. We don’t do the formal nights. And we keep the total bag weight to under 50# so we don’t have to pay an overweight baggage fee when we fly. And we don’t need to take Diet Coke with us - it’s covered in our fare.

This is going to be a (most likely) one time adventure. If it ain’t great, at least we’ll get some stories out of it.

I just ran to the other Food Lion and snagged the last 3 cartons of diet A&W. I need to start planning supper so I know how to time it. Sometimes I goof and we eat way closer to 4 than to 5. Which means we’re wanting snacks before 8. Life is so hard here!!

While making pancakes yesterday I was thinking about the last time you mentioned cornmeal pancakes and was going to search to see if you had posted a recipe. Thanks to @kayT, I don’t have to. Thanks for sharing!

Now that it’s after Easter, I finally got to try Lindt’s Dubai style 70% dark chocolate bar. It’s very good. I limited myself to one square. With great difficulty. It’s really good. I prefer bar chocolate to bunnies, etc. That’s just me.

Work was another round of wack-a-mole. At one point I had two different managers asking me questions, on different topics, at the same time. Fun times.

Now it’s time to settle down and watch tv. Have to be at the gym at 7:00 tomorrow morning. What was I thinking?

Diet Cokes in the dining car with your meals are covered. Diet Cokes between meals from the cafe/snack bar aren’t covered. When the website says sleeper car passengers get free beverages they mean with meals in the dining car and morning coffee free in the first class cars and unlimited bottled water delivered to your cabin (or at the coffee station right next to it). The cafe/snack bar will give you hot water for tea, etc & ice free but beverages there everyone first and coach class pays for those. Have some small bills cash for when the cafe loses their connection and their debit/credit pay station stops working-that happens fairly often.

Last of 5 loads is in the dryer and heading off to work on the extra-large lunch I ate soon as it finishes.

Hoping that Mollie took the excellent advice of BBBoo and the procedure was a complete success.

rocky, that sounds like a great round trip via Amtrak, a couple years ago I went from New Orleans to Washington DC on the Crescent, to Chicago on the Capitol Limited (now running as part of the Floridian) and then back to New Orleans on the City of New Orleans. So did about a half of what your planning.

Considering all the talk about traveling, I think you meant touring machines…  :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Cookie, cat be about his bidness and is ignoring pesky human…

FCM, like BBBoo said, they often let you leave the big bags in the lower portion of the Superliner where they might be accessed, the Viewliner will probably required the baggage car. And if you have a bedroom, you can use the Lounge at Union Station in Chicago during your waiting time.

Cookie, you were probably in a roomette, which barely holds one person (me) comfortably and two is definitely a crowd.

Dicey, I admire your restraint around chocolate, one reason I do not buy it is that I lack said restraint…but I do want to try this Dubai chocolate sometime.

And need to get the last load out of the dryer and do some final gym time for awhile.

I’d classify them as orgasmic. YMMV.
