Where is FANTA?

Awhile ago I was overseas and saw Fanta everywhere. Now I’m back in Connecticut, and it’s nowhere. A lot of people around here have never even heard of it. Is it sold in the USA? Why can’t I find any where I am?
And one more question, how many flavors are there?

Omigod, I love orange FANTA! I got addicted in Prague.

As far as I know, there is Fanta Rootbeer, Grape, Orange, and this sicky-sweet strawberry stuff. It is available in the U.S., but distribution is patchy.

D.C. Fanta fans can pick some up at the Cineplex Odeon Janus in Dupont Circle.

there is also a red cream soda.

[Homer]Mmmmmm, lemon Fanta.
Mmmmmmmm, curry chips.[/Homer]

The two culinary delights I miss most from Northern Ireland.

Back in the '70s we used to have Fanta Orange and Fanta Root Beer here in Massachusetts, made by the good folks at the Coca-Cola Company. They were substituted by, IIRC, Minute Maid Orange and Raft? Taft? some kinda monosyllabic pre-Barq’s root beer respectively. I haven’t drunk a Fanta in decades.

Scratch, 3 words:

Polar Orange Dry.

Yummmmmmmmm! Even BETTER than Fanta!

Yeah, I lost my taste for orange soda, but Polar O.D. is good. Not like a “normal” orange soda; it’s more like a mixture of orange juice and ginger ale. Though I’ve had trouble finding other people who enjoy it.

Fanta. That should be right next to Tab, right?

We’re both from Leominster (well, I was born there but never lived there) and we both like Polar Orange Dry…

Pretty freaky.

Fanta – it’s everywhere in Mexico. In the States, I haven’t seen it since the late 1970s. I think the Fanta flavors may be marketed under different names in the US, much like how Japanese cars often have have different names outside of the country.

I saw it in many locations in Poland, Spain, England, AND France in the last two weeks. Funny, I thought it was readily available here too. Turns out it’s not in KC, anyhow.

I’m pretty sure it’s still quite common in Europe (how much of Europe, I’m not sure…Coldy? Got any Fanta?). When I was in Romania and Hungary a few years ago, it was all I drank…it was either that or cola drinks (ewwww), tap water (baaaaad idea), warm milk (feh), or mineral water (EWWW!).

Anyone know who makes Fanta? (Pepsi/Coke/etc?)

I know it’s a Coke product. All the more reason I’m amazed it’s not widely available in the states.

The only place to find Fanta in the United States is in vending machines on the highway far, far away from major towns. No one knows why this is…

Yes for all you young souls who might be in love with Fanta as much as I am, here is a gift of knowledge…

Fanta another great product made by Coca-Cola has been around for many years in India. When Coke got the boot in the early 80’s from India fanta still remained (Coca Cola is back now). Yes in the streets fo Calcutta and Bombay little kids and grown men still sell bottles of Lemon and Orange Fanta in cool classic glass bottles which they take back from after you have consumed the drink.

Great Stuff… Minune Maid Orange doesn’t stand a chance.

Useless information…

Fanta is Nazi Coke. Back during WWII the ingredients for Coke were no longer avaliable in Germany. Orange Fanta was produced as an alternative soft drink using the avaliable ingredients. I assume the name Fanta is some version of the German word for fantastic.

Just a short FYI. At a restaurant called Zu-Zu’s in Dallas, they have Strawberry Fanta in the fountain.

I haven’t bought any in a couple of years, but Fanta products were readily available in the Martinsburg, WV area. I love their red cream soda and my wife is fond of their diet chocolate soda.

I have a diabetic cousin and my mother is hpyoglycemic, so diet Fanta was always a staple. This was in the Pittsburgh area. I’ll have to see if it is still around.

Back to the OP: Fanta is most definitely available in Ireland. I preferred it to root beer there (I LOVE root beer).

FANTA, God, and the fridge… the holy trinity

I love Fanta (produced by Coca Cola, owned by Schweppes)

It only comes in one TRUE flavor and that is Orange. It’s available everywhere in the UK. Can you not get it in the States? That does it… i was gonna desert this little island but i can’t leave my Fanta behind.

I reckon i consume about 2 litres per day. Its too good to be true.

i need another bottle!
