Where is kayaker?

And I have always wondered what instrument you play (I know I’m not the only one).

You’re also far from the first, and likely not the last, to read my username as ‘soloist’. It’s ‘solost’ without the ‘i’.

In April 2010 I joined after lurking for awhile, to participate in the discussion of the final season of the show ‘Lost’. Not being great at coming up with creative usernames, I chose ‘solost’, since the final season had me ‘so lost’. Yes, lame.

And, you don’t want to hear me soloing-- either vocally or on any musical instrument :smirk:

I think your username is fantastic! Tons better than “wguy123”

At least your username probably doesn’t get misread all the time. It’s ambiguous enough to be intruiging. What does it mean, anyway? I assume you’re a guy who likes something that starts with ‘w’, or there’s a ‘W’ in your name, and the 123 was filler to get the name to take. Am I on the right track?

wise guy?

It was back when I was “wiseguy” on several forums (remember when you had to go to topic specific forums) and this was one I was interested in, but it wasn’t topic specific and I wasn’t sure I’d ever post. I think there were already wiseguys here and I didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about it because I didn’t think I would spend much time here. Now, I’m mostly here and not much on the other topic specific forums. Should’ve spent more time on my username…“smartass” is taken but it looks like wisenheimer is still available.

Nailed it!

Yep, just like me, not thinking past participating in a ‘Lost’ discussion thread. 15 years and counting later…

CairoCarol for the win!

18 for me. And, I don’t think I posted until 13 years ago. I was a lurker for 5 years.

I didn’t even lurk. I decided to sign up one day, and discovered that I had already done so five or six years earlier.

I’m sad to think I will never again see @kayaker type the words, “sous vide”.

Don’t worry, you’re avatar is outstanding enough that I always know “that’s the guy with the numbers aka Bob Dylan in 1966 on his Triumph”, so you’re definitely recognizable.

Glad you recognize it. Someday I’ll be that cool…

NOT!

Get yourself a Triumph! Ore even cooler, a 1952 Vincent Black Lightning.

I thought we got pretty good reason for optimism upthread, no?

We did. But he’s still not around.

High praise coming from the Doper with one of, if not the best, avatar / username combos on the SDMB :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the compliment! But I can’t take much credit for it, I was just lucky to find this picture googling “Einstein’s dog” after I had lost my old avatar pic 7 or 8 years ago, which was a real small white dog that looked a bit like Einstein.
