On the tv show Everybody Loves Raymond, I believe I have heard references to Robert as working as a New York City cop. (I just started watching the show in reruns). But there are a few episodes, like when Ray is outside a bank and pushes a little old lady out of the way, in the ATM line. Or when Deborah falls asleep at the wheel of a parked car, after drinking too much, where Robert appears as a cop on duty.
But it doesn’t seem like those places are in New York City.
Is this a continuity error or am I just missing too many episodes still?
I haven’t seen the show in a long time but my impression was that the show took place in Long Island, not NYC at all. I believe that Ray and Robert were both portrayed as working in the city though.
I imagine instances of Robert appearing “on duty” in Long Island was done because of the needs of the story in that particular episode.
I had the impression that Ray’s house was in the Long Island suburbs, and not the outer boroughs. The Wikipedia article on the show says that it was in Lynbrook, in Nassau County.
