I think what really helps is bringing it back up well after the thread had reestablished the OP’s intended direction.
Rowr.
Not really understanding the recent posts, but I wasn’t joking about Wiis and accessories being expensive here in Oz. Maybe it’s a tax thing or maybe it’s PAL, but yeah, they aren’t cheap compared to what they cost in America.
The pawn shops around here have Wiis and that’s where I got ours. Au$249 (I think) for the Wii with a Nintendo Wiimote, nunchuck, Sports, and a third party cordless sensor bar. The balance board (no disc) was 70 bucks. The best deal I’ve seen new, if I recall, was the standard Wii package plus Sports Resort, and one of two games for $388. Fit Plus runs about 140 new. A standard Wii package in the states is US$200 plus sales tax, and that’s with a weaker than usual currency.
The OP may be on to something, though. I pulled the $200 figure from Best Buy online and all the Wii packages are sold out. So while they’re definitely cheaper in the states, they may also be harder to find. We’ve got plenty of supply, which seems like it should drives prices down, especially in the aftermarket.
Incidentally, I got the Wii largely as a fitness toy and I’ve used it most days since I got it. I’ve put about 14 hours in on Wii Fit Plus. I haven’t lost any weight, though. Sports and Punch Out are fun games and provide a bit of exercise. I’m looking to get another fitness disc, preferably the EA one if I ever see it cheap enough. The Wii is a pretty silly-looking way to exercise, though, and I draw the blinds when I use it. I also think that doing Super Hula Hoop a lot probably helps in the sack, even if you don’t lose any weight doing it.
