I’m going to be in Ireland come mid-August. My girlfriend and I are planning on being in Dublin for the first Friday and Saturday nights of our trip, before driving around Ireland for the rest of the week and spending five or six days in Scotland.
This is actually my second visit to Dublin, having spent a few days there a decade ago. I loved the city, and definitely want to stay in the heart of town again. Of course, the last time I was there, my buddy and I did the starving-student youth hostel thing. My budget this time around is greatly increased, and I have no desire to plug 50p coins into a crappy shower on a timer this time.
My parameters are this: I want to be within easy stumbling distance of excellent nightlife (and by “nightlife,” please understand that “disco” is my own personal concept of hell). I don’t care a lick about anything more than a private, comfortable room (with bath) in a non-horrible neighborhood. “Amenities” are nice, but who really cares because I plan to spend as little time as possible in the hotel.
So, where should I stay in Dublin?
