Where you live, and for whom you're voting (The Canadian Edition)

Vancouver - not voting ('cause I’m too chicken to go to the voting station and wipe my ass with the ballot).

The election is pretty much over by the time our polls close, plus there isn’t one of those bastards I would cross the street to piss on if they were on fire.

I’ll be voting in the Provincial election when it comes… at least in that one my vote seems to make a difference.

I dunno. Saskatoon-Blackstrap’s northern boundary is 8th St, which puts most of the university district into Saskatoon-Humboldt. The NDP should have a decent shot there, since Jim Pankiw, the incumbent and our resident racist, is running there as an independent after the Alliance didn’t let him back into the party after the Stockwell Day flap. For reasons that escape me, Pankiw actually has some level of popularity (he came in third in last fall’s mayoral election, with rather more votes than I’d like to see him get), and has a pretty good chance of vote-splitting the right and handing the riding to Nettie Wiebe. In Blackstrap, though, Lynne Yelich won the last election in a walk, though admittedly not against Kossick. But Briarwood and Lakeview aren’t exactly low-income subdivisions, and the rural parts of the riding will vote heavily Conservative.

Toronto (Etobicoke-Lakeshore).

Green, or maybe NDP (I haven’t decided).

If I had to, I’d hold my nose and vote Liberal. But I’d crawl across broken glass to avoid voting Conservative… while I don’t necessarily disagree with some of their policies, the social conservatism is a definite no-no. I’m too small-L libertarian for that.

I think that one of the interesting questions of this election is where will the Red Tories and their support end up? (For you non-Canadian types, “Red Tories” are left-wing members of the former Progressive Conservative party.)

Alberta, Calgary West. Conservative, unless an interesting independent shows up.

Live in San Francisco, but am voting in Beaches-East York (Toronto) … Voting for Peter Tabuns, the NDP candidate…

Calgary (Calgary South Centre)

Conservative

Actually, that may not be the case this time around. Depending on what happens with the Bloc in Quebec and the Conservatives in Ontario, we may be waiting for BC results to see if the Liberals get a majority or a minority.

As for me, White Rock-South Surrey-Cloverdale (at least, I think that’s what it’s called now), still undecided between NDP and Green, but leaning Green. Neither’s got a snowball’s chance in hell of winning this riding, so I might as well give my $1.75 to the Greens.

Crap. I was assuming that Kossick would run in a similar constituency that saw him almost win a city councillor seat during the mayoral election, but I guess that’s not the case. Too bad - Kossick would be a great parliamentarian, but it looks like it’s going to be Yelich again.

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but I’m actually glad that Pankiw, the festering pustule on the ass of the democratic process, is running, thus effectively handing that riding to a non-Conservative candidate. I doubt Pankiw will get nearly the support as an independent as he did in the mayoral election; plus, I’ve always liked Nettie Wiebe as well.

I’m only three weeks removed from being a Saskatonian, and may try to vote in my former riding of Saskatoon-Wanuskewin (though I think Priscilla Settee has zero chance against either Maurice Vellacott or Chris Axworthy) so I’m keeping a close eye on the Saskatchewan races.

Toronto - Don Mills

Probably NDP (first time voting anyone but Liberal).

Calgary, North Central

I dunno - I think my Conservative incumbant is useless but I haven’t seen anything from his competition - I’m assuming there are other parties running, but I have no idea who their candidates are.

Bah. I might not vote at all.

Ontario (North of Toronto)

Undecided. Can’t vote Liberal in good conscience. Worried NDP will make my taxes skyrocket without really improving the lot of the needy. Worried PC will lower taxes and dramatically worsen the lot of the needy.

Toronto Beaches-East York - NDP (just cuz)

Quebec (Saint-Lambert riding), and I have no clue which way I’m voting yet.

I’ll probably end up voting Liberal, with the belief that it’s best to go with the devil you know. I mean, they’re all going to screw us over anyway, and a minority government is just a pain in the butt.

Besides, it’s always a Bloc vs Liberal showdown around here, so a vote for the others doesn’t really count for much.

The NDP candidate in the riding is fairly cute, so she may get some votes… but she’s only 22 years old and I’m sure that’s not going to help.

Monique Garcia? I know her. She’s the VP of NDP Quebec’s youth wing. A fabulous person and smart as a whip.

Peter Tabuns is running NDP? He’s the head of Greenpeace Canada, isn’t he?
I’m voting Greenparty. Live in Montreal, vote in Niagara.

Thnder Bay-Nipigon
NDP. Can’t trust Liberals, Conservatives are just weird. Green is a close second on my list.

Prince Albert (Sask). Can’t vote yet though, only 17.

Current incumbent Brian Fitzpatrick (Conservative) is screwed, however. He, uh, got on the wrong side of public opinion when it came to a high profile drunk driving case here involving some very nasty race allegations and such. And when I say race allegations, most Saskatchewanians would know what I mean.

Ontario, Bramalea/Springdale, I’m voting NDP, as will my wife.

Ontario, Clinton
Undecided

Can somebody tell me about this Pankiw person? What exactly has he done that inspires such loathing?
