Canadopers: Who will you be voting for in the election?

Not sure if this belongs in Great Debates or not, but what the hey.

It’s a given there’s going to be an election called. It’s only a matter of time. So, which party would you vote for?

Bleeding-heart, virtua-socialist, lesbian me will be donning a tangerine beret, if you get what I mean.

Christian Heritage.

Well, ask a silly question…

Since Natural Law isn’t fielding candidates anymore, I think I’ll have to abstain.

Damn! No yogic flyers, no Rhinos, The Party Party is unregistered. There’s clearly no sane choice.

Currently deciding between green and orange, if you see what I mean…

(Orange berets! What a tasty idea, kung fu lola! )

Do they just endorse Marijuana Party candidates, then?

Conservative, or whatever the hell they’re calling themselves these days, probably.

Thanks, I get my fashion advice from matt_mcl.

[sub]He also bought my vote, using Gummi bears and a Madonna concert tee-shirt.[/sub]

My local red MP voted with the blues on the same sex marriage amendment proposal, so I’ll be moving from red to orange.

As an aside, the letter on the issue I received from the MP was incomprehensble, whereas the letter from the PM was well written.

It’s a pity that the MP hasn’t simply walked to the other side of the house.

Another orange beret, as always. I don’t agree with every one of my party’s policies, but these days they’re even saner than the Greens.

I am really, really frightened at the popularity of the Conservatives. Harper is very good at avoiding any scrutiny of his socially conservative agenda. Sometimes, in unguarded moments with the right-wing press or right-wing groups, he makes very clear that he has a socially-conservative agenda.

Harper’s not a fool. He knows Stockwell Day (that Forrest Gump of the Canadian right) shot himself repeatedly in the foot by being openly evangelical. Harper is waiting until he has an undivided share of the political power, and then he plans to roll back the clock.

I’ll hold my nose and vote NDP. Can’t stand Harper’s positions on too many things that matter to me, and the Liberals of course are a bunch of crooks.

The Conservatives are a social disaster waiting to happen, the NDP are a fiscal disaster waiting to happen, and the Bloc are a political geography disaster waiting to happen. The Liberals are an ethical disaster already happening, but in the grand scheme of things, probably still the lesser of all contending evils.

I’m disappointed greatly with the Liberals, though much of it I think is left over from Chretien (along with the sponsorship scandal) but enough so that I can’t vote for them.

I can’t vote Conservative; their platform is too far from my personal beliefs.

Green or NDP is left (heh) and I probably will vote NDP, because I like their policies, and hope for stronger representation as an opposition to whoever wins.

Orange berets? I’m really sick today, but I don’t get the reference. Me feel dumb.

Hehe.

So far, in our informal SDMB Canadoper Poll, we have:

58% voting NDP
25% abstaining or undecided
8% voting Liberal
8% voting Conservative
Is our country doomed? Only time can tell…

Another lib here.

The scandel was over blown IMO. A few million dollars shouldn’t sway anyone from switching their votes. Giving Canada to the Conservatives is just scarey.

NDP. I think. Unless the Conservatives get too popular and we have to do that “anyone but Harper, and by that we mean Martin” thing again.

Very disappointed but will continue to vote Liberal. They are the only real national party and best equiped to clean up their act. Scary actually, because they are the only chance for Canada to have a future.

Conservatives.

This is a good representation of my real feelings. I would never actually abstain from voting.
