I mentioned it to my day nurse this morning. She’s going to set one aside in my room so there’s no excuse.
I want to thank Spiderman for stopping by to visit me tonight, and for the gifts he bought. It was much appreciated and I enjoyed the conversation.
He walked in and I had no idea who he was, then he said “I’m Spiderman” and pulled open his jacket revealing a Spiderman t-shirt.
I thought he was either a crazy person or one of those funny telegrams people send until he saw my confusion and said “Straightdope” at which point I realized who he was.
Way to go Spidey!
Did you get your blanket?
Did **Spidey **bring a blanket? Should we Fedex you some real ones?
Friendly *and *in the neighborhood, clearly Spiderman! ![]()
What a kind thing to do!
Yes. There is a blanket in a bag in the corner but it wasn’t brought by Spiderman, it’s the rehab center’s.
Wish I lived close enough to come visit. You’ll just have to treat this thread as a virtual visit from all your friends. We’ll come in and try our best to bore you to death with stories and stay too long and blow cigarette smoke in your face and laugh loudly with each other and piss off the nurses and
Or not.
Other than the smoke, that sounds great. For anyone who does want to visit, I’m in room 210, 32 S Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA . Check in at the desk first. I love having visitors!
If I carried one it would have interfered with slinging webs to get there. Of course there’s the option to tie it around one’s neck, but I channeled my inner Nancy Reagan to Just say No!
OTOH, I did resolve his other issue w/ a pair of (pocket-sized) ear buds w/ extra/different sized tips.
- Actually, my (light) summer blanket came from a hospital many years ago. Ooops, did I accidentally put two on the stretcher when I remade it? :o
He didn’t just bring earbuds. He brought me a nice set of earphones. His Spidey sense must have told him that the right channel had stopped working on my current set. I didn’t mention it on here.
How did it go? Are you still with us?
I was visited today by Diamond, a therapy dog.
They’re specialy trained dogs that volunteers take around to rehab centers and nursing homes for a psychological boost. It’s known that dogs can have positive physical and psychological effects.
I love dogs so it was a real treat for me.
Very cool. What kind of dog was Diamond?
A Shetland Sheepdog.
I thought for sure it would have been a Bowie.

OK, I had to look it up. Benefits of sitting in the chair include:
Promote lung expansion
Shift pressure points
Strengthen trunk muscles
Easier, safer to eat
Increase activity to decrease risk of DVT, bone demineralization
Prepare patient for mobilization
Better digestion
Sorry that it’s a pain in the backside, but on the up side it sounds like they only put you In The Chair if they see you’ve improved and expect you to improve more. So congratulations on leveling up.
I want thank the person who sent me the Christmas card. Unfortunately, all I can make out is that it’s someone named Barbara from TN. I can’t make out your SDMB name (that’s because of my eyesight, not your handwriting), but thank you whoever you are.
I hate it when they wake you up early in the morning to take your vitals and then you can’t go back to sleep.
Bummer. How are you feeling otherwise? Is the therapy helping with recover?
Hey davidm - are there small things we can send you through the mail? I’ve resolved not to do any Christmas shopping this year but for you I’d shop.
