Where's everybody from?

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland. Raised in Aberdeenshire (also Scotland). Now living/working in Singapore, via Glasgow and London.

Western PA is beautiful, I love the woods, but I would not want to make a living there. My birthplace there is practically a ghost town. They are trying to lure some tourism trade with its “Victorian history” and “Oil Heritage”, but I imagine that’s not terribly successful.

Lot of Scots in this thread, heh. I’ve seen about an hour’s worth of Aberdeen, on a two-day lightning-quick tour of the north we did last summer. We drove up through the highlands to Loch Ness and spent the night in Inverness, then circled around to the east, took a quick look at the beach in Aberdeen, then continued on down the coast and turned back toward Glasgow after Dundee. I’d like to see more of the north and east someday, spend more than half an hour on the beach, and check out the Findhorn community.

Good ol’ Johnny

Now I didn’t expect that!

(is Parkhead technically South Lanarkshire? I thought it was in the Glasgow City limits. I can see the stadium from my kitchen window though)

waves

Ha, I’m just three or four stops away from you on the trainline. Small world

PaulParkhead is technically in South Lanarkshire, Parkhead the stadium is technically in Glasgow. We can’t afford to live in Glasgow proper at the moment, heh. Hamilton’s not so bad, but it would be nice to be closer to the town and the available jobs. Though I don’t know that I’d want to be overlooking a football stadium…

I went to uni for a year at Stirling on an exchange program - does that count?

Grew up in California - Bay Area (Redwood City, baby!)

Have been in the NYC area for over a decade, but will probably end up back in CA before too long. Ties to the SF and Monterey Bay Areas…

Born in Chatham New Brunswick, Canada
Raised in:
Moose Jaw Saskatchewan
Grand Centre Alberta
Calgary Alberta
Portage la Prairie Manitoba
Canberra ACT, Australia
Colorado Springs, CO

Lived in Sackville NB
Winnipeg MB
and currently in Moncton NB.
(Yes, my dad was in the military. How could you tell?)

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana

Except for some university time in Evansville, I have never lived outside Anderson, Indiana. Anderson is nestled in the elbow of Interstate 69.

I am from Queen Creek, AZ. Was born in Phoenix. Moved out to Del Mar, CA for an idiot and came back here. Happy as a clam…though I don’t think clams are all that happy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, that depends - did you get chased by the campus goose?

There’s only one? Walking back from the pubs through the fog on the loch, I saw all sorts of wee beasties  I played The Wild Rover a few times at the Gannochy (that was the name of the upstairs pub on campus with an open mic back in the day) - does that count?

Originally from East Side suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. Now live in Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Have also lived in Kentucky (twice), Colorado (twice), Wyoming, North Carolina, Maryland, Michigan, and a brief stint in California.

Are you settled now?

First 18 years in NJ, then VT for school, then CO the very next day after college graduation. Moved around a little, then settled here in Telluride back in 1994. I don’t think I’ll leave until I’m ready to move into senior housing, so a few decades to go.

Looks like I’ve been on the boards for way too long, if not too prolifically.

Have lived in MI all my life, but my mom is Doreen Pfaffenbach from Minnesota. I used to spend my summers in Eagle River but am living near Traverse City full time now.

Mt. Oliver, PA, originally, then South Park, PA.

Born in Jackson, MS, lived thereabouts until age 9. Thereabouts being Clinton, Brookhaven and Pearl.

Then:
Clarksville, TN
Roseville, CA
Jackson, MS
Roseville, CA
Grand Rapids, MI (and thereabouts, so Wyoming and Jenison)
Las Vegas, NV
Los Angeles, CA

Now Newtown, Sydney, NSW Australia.

And never, ever moving again.

Yep, we may even outnumber the English…

That sounds like a decent tour to me. An hour’s worth of Aberdeen will just about do it. It lacks a big thing to attract visitors. I recommend a visit to Stonehaven, and the walk from the harbour along the clifftop path to Dunottar Castle - lovely if you do it during one of our four days of sunshine per year.
