Where's my whip and chair?

In half an hour I’ll be off to the first day of school, and yes, I have to go because I’m the teacher. I’m not sure how many kids I have in my first hour class, because at Open House last night I met several new kids. I’m not sure how I’m going to handle my second hour, because I’m not sure I can run the video clip from my DVD and my computer hasn’t gotten its speakers yet. We just moved into this school last week, and although the boxes are unpacked, chaos reigns. All the teachers here back in the swing of things?

Good luck!

Good luck and take it one thing at a time.

I’m a newly-minted teacher who starts on 9/8. The specious value of educational technology was drilled into my head, so I’ve incorporated loads of Powerpoints, videos, etc. into my lesson plans yet I have no idea how to work the SmartBoard ™ set up in my classroom. If that fails on me I’ll have to teach on an actual blackboard w/chalk. :smack:

Well anyhoo good luck, here’s hoping every day gets easier!

Oh, this thread is about school. Not what I thought it was going to be about, at all.

I got all excited too.

My daughter is getting ready to start her 2nd year of teaching. Last year she had 2nd grade, but this year, she’ll teach 5th grade science, and she’s really excited! Her classroom is a disaster, but she’s got till the day after Labor Day to get it all set ready. The last teacher who had the room left it in a mess, so she’s been doing a lot of cleaning.

I watch her and I’m so glad I joined the Navy instead of becoming a teacher like I first planned. I discovered I don’t like that many kids that much.
