Where's Polybius?

I’ve been reading some classical history this week and I felt like going back to the original histories. Being as all this stuff is public domain, I went to Project Gutenberg and started downloading.

Herodotus, Livy, Suetonius, Tacitus, Thucydides, Xenophon - no problem.

But then I tried to find Polybius and got nothing. I searched for his name and the site said “no author found”. I tried searching for The Histories and that didn’t work. I checked on Wikipedia to make sure I hadn’t misspelled his name or missed some other name he might be known by, but found nothing.

Pol’s been dead for 2,129 years, so I’m pretty sure his stuff is public domain by now. I suppose it’s possible that Gutenberg just hasn’t gotten around to uploading his work but that seems unlikely.

So can anyone post a clue or link on how I can find him? If not on Gutenberg, then on some other site with an easily downloadable format?

Polybius: The Histories

Thanks, wintertime. I had seen that site before but I was hoping for some place where I could download the entire book in one piece rather than chapter by chapter.

Anyone have a theory on why Polybius isn’t in Gutenberg?

Little Nemo, I took a second look and then a third and still don’t want to believe that no one seems to have a copy ready for download.

I didn’t even find a version for download in German or French – which is rather odd.

Strange.
