I used to be both, and I actually scored a little higher on the math part of the SAT (740 math/730 verbal), but after a few years of not taking any math classes, I think that part of my brain is deteriorating.
I do the crossword puzzle every morning but neglect Soduko completely. Really, I’ve never even tried it. I don’t dislike numbers flat out, but I’m more a letters and words person.
My son, on the other hand, seems to want to combine the 2. He has just learned the alphabet in the past few months and when he sees a letter, he’ll yell, “It’s the number A!! It’s the number S!!”
Mine were ten points apart; I like both. And I LOOOVE The Phantom Toolbooth, especially when he conducts the sunrise. Because colors are feelings and sounds too.
I thought it was the Mathmagician? I was pleased that was a nickname some of my friends called me in, oh, I think it was fifth grade.
By which you may infer that I read and enjoyed the story in question (hence, letters) but must have been good at numbers. I think I have a slight edge with numbers - for those quoting SAT scores, I got 10% lower on my English than Math - but I like both. For work, I do a lot with numbers, but use words a lot to communicate results and actions. For fun, I do a lot of puzzle magazines, and always prefer those with a good mix between word puzzles and number/spacial puzzles.
So, either, or rather, both (i.e., 2).
I have a natural writing ability, and I come from a line of mathematical geniuses, so I guess I’m both.
