Which Billy Joel single and album are your favorites?

I Go to Extremes is from Storm Front.

The Stranger is easily winning the poll. I think that’s his best selling album?

I love the songs that everyone else loves too but my favorite “deep cut” is “Downeaster Alexa”.

Mine too.

Favourite Billy Joel song: Say Goodbye to Hollywood (with New York State of Mind, Honesty, Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song), Goodnight Saigon and Leningrad not far behind.

Favourite Billy Joel melody: the intro to The Stranger.

Favourite Billy Joel album: The Stranger. 9 songs on the album, 5 of which are among his best: Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song), The Stranger, Just the Way You Are, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, She’s Always a Woman.

I like all of Joel’s work because the musicianship is excellent, not crazy weird punkish or heavy…and the lyrics are generally evocative while being, most importantly, easy to understand. So much crap on the air these days that needs captioning to make any sense at all, and, even then…

I didn’t see a mention of Allentown, or ‘We will all go down together’… spoke to my generation, truly.

Seconded.

Best Song: Allentown

I’ve Loved These Days

Any time “Big Shot” comes on I have to crank it up. I also like “Pressure” and “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

I got to see Billy Joel play with Elton John. Elton was okay, but Billy and his saxophones just ripped. I have been listening since 1976 and my favorite? So many.
