What is your second favourite Billy Joel song?

Inspired by Does Billy Joel have a bad song that exists?, I put one of my best of Billy Joel CDs on in the car earlier which made me wonder what people’s second favourite Billy Joel song is.

Obviously everyone’s favourite is Piano Man, which is why I’m asking for your second favourite. If Piano Man isn’t your favourite then I pity you and I guess you could tell us your favourite instead. If you hate all Billy Joel songs then the other thread is for you or you could tell us the one you least hate.

I’ll start, You May Be Right is my second favourite. Aren’t we are all looking for a lunatic, deep down?

I think my second favorite would probably be either “And So It Goes” or “Laura.”

Second favorite is “Sleeping With The Television On”. Favorite? Eh, I don’t know. “Only The Good Die Young” is a good piece of song craft.“For The Longest Time” ain’t bad.

First of all, “Piano Man” isn’t my favorite Billy Joel song. “Vienna” is.

My second favorite is probably “Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)”, with “New York State of Mind” a close third.

“Piano Man” isn’t in my top 5.

Only the Good Die Young holds wonderful memories for me. I also love You Are My Home.

Aw, hell, I just plain love Billy Joel. one of my all-time favorite artists.

I like Downeaster Alexa, I like Pressure, I like The Stranger… The list goes on and on.

I love so many Billy Joel songs, it would be hard for me to rank them. But there is one that is in my top five that I hardly ever hear people mention as a favorite: “Last of the Big Time Spenders.” It’s a lovely and sweet song that seems to have just gotten lost between the cracks. If you are not familiar with it, I suggest you check it out. It’s on the “Streetlife Serenade” album.

I’d go with Scenes from an Italian Restaurant for #2 with New York State of Mind #1.

Not sure why Piano Man has to be my favorite when it isn’t even Billy Joel’s favorite.

I think I once liked Piano Man, about six thousand listens ago.

All-time favorite: Allentown, with Captain Jack, Movin’ Out, Pressure, and many others close behind.
