Draelin, use my husband’s sure fire way to get to anything out of your head…“Superfreak” (especially the bass line). Seriously, it takes care of anything, just about.
I have CDs by four different boy bands. I am ashamed, but how else could I have the ability to sing “Satisfied” in the shower?
I have that same CD, Lord Ashtar. No word yet on whether I am still respected, though.
I also have a Michael Bolton CD but it was a present.
I’m not embarrassed by any other music I have, although other people are.
I own both of Christina Aguilera’s CDs. The second one is actually pretty good! Also, I love Toni Braxton. I worship and venerate Toni Braxton as Our Lady of 90s R&B. Taylor Dayne? Yep, got that too. I was heartbroken when someone stole one of my Taylor Dayne CDs a couple years ago. I need to replace it.
A 4-CD boxed set of John Denver.
Lots of his early stuff, is, um, y’know…under-appreciated.
Chumbawamba is actually a really great band. Yeah, they’re pretty much only known for that single but in fact they have a long discography and are still quite popular in Europe. They’re one of the few pop bands that is both socially conscious (even if I’m not an anarchist, I can appreciate anarchist lyrics) and fun to dance to.
Still, if someone asks me what some of my favorite bands are, I’m a little hesitant to add Chumbawamba to the list, because their name is funny and they’re a one hit wonder here.
Christina Aguilera’s debut album. She was good then but since seems to have fallen prey to the marketing spin doctors.
I have learned to not be embarassed by my musical tastes.
A couple of things that would have caused embarassment in the past would be Debbie Gibson’s Out of the Blue and the Original Cast Recording of They’re Playing Our Song (featuring Robert Klein and Lucie Arnaz).
I am militantly unapologetic for owning KC & the Sunshine Band’s Greatest Hits CD .
Do I win?
Rather than ruin my reputation as a music expert with no embarrassing CDs (pffft), here’s a gratuitous Simpsons quote on the subject:
Cyndi Lauper - True Colors
Stryper - To Hell with the Devil
as if they aren’t bad enough…
Barbara Streisand’s Christmas album.
The ID4 soundtrack.
Now, everyone hold still while I get the Amnesia ray ready…
I just don’t know why I always get really strange looks from people when I put this one on.
I always cringe when I see this one and I know I should thow it, but it keeps appearing and I swear it was a gift. Though I did at one stage have dreams of getting physical with her.
I’d have to go with the Laura Imbruglia disc.
Never be ashamed of your Cinderella.
After I posted before I remebered that I own 2Partidge Family cds. :o
Embarrassed? Never.
I assure you, my taste in music is impeccable.
Why, even as I write this I’m listening to The Best of Gene Autry.
Ohhh yeah. You guys bring up some other ones I forgot about.
I own all of Cyndi Lauper’s albums up to Hat Full of Stars.
I also love Chumbawamba and Adam Ant.
Old school Duran Duran.
I can’t let go of my Real McCoy CD, or any early 90s dance mix CDs.
My husband is a huge fan of Michael McDonald. Embarrassingly enough… he’s growing on me. I kind of like the guy. Mr. Stasaeon also likes to listen to “smooth jazz” stations, which, growing up, I called “Muzak stations”. Well, they are. I’m starting to like those, too. I seriously am starting to think I could grow to like anything if I listen to it long enough. Except for country - my parents listened to it all my life, and I never, ever, ever liked it. Dad always said I’d change, and he’s usually right, but I just haven’t had that epiphany yet.
Patty Duke’s Greatest Hits. Even SHE is embarassed by her “singing” career.
How DARE they!
I have all all of her albums. I’ve heard worse (Alanis Morissette, I’m looking at you (indirectly, of course, lest I be turned to stone)).
What Patty lacks in talent, she more than makes up for in enthusiasm.
Oooh! I so want this CD!
MagicEyes, if you’re still reading this thread – I’ll trade you for a CD from my collection (embarrassing or not!). Drop me an email!
