Joe Bastianich, Josh Modell, Wayne Brady, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Giada DeLaurentis, Duff Goldman, Alton Brown (much as I love the man), Will Smith (and his brood), Daniel Lawrence Whitney (a.k.a. Larry the Cable Guy), John Lasseter.
I met him at a Jeopardy! audition and he was impeccably polite, gracious and funny. Of course, it’s entirely possible that he was “in character,” since he was working.
My thoughts on Gaga would be she’s simply WAY TOO into what she does. I am all for campaigning for gay rights but shes a gay nazi.
My vote would be for anyone who comes across as a know-it-all and looks down on anyone who disagrees. Bill Mahr (whom I absolutely hate) Seth MacFarlane (whom I absolutely love) and a lot of others already mentioned: Patton Oswald, Olberman, O’Reilly etc.
Naomi “haven’t beat a servant in, what, weeks?” Campbell

I was surprised to hear how friendly and approachable **Johnny Depp **is. He’s always so serious and brooding that I assumed he’d be a dick, but from everything I’ve heard he’s one of the nicest guys in the biz and always takes extra time to meet fans, sign autographs, etc.

Sorry for the hijack, but that’s an interesting choice of words there. I’m not much of a fan of her music, but when so many other pop stars put out meaningless pablum crap, the fact that she embodies her convictions in her work so completely, and manages to sell it to the masses, is admirable to say the least. If anything, I’m willing to give such artists more latitude if they are divas, because they probably catch a lot of crap from members of the public who disagree with their views, and so may be a bit wary. Although flipping the bird to the cameras at a ballgame was a dick move.
As for the OP, I strongly suspect that both Sarah Silverman and Lisa Lampanelli are really that annoying in real life.
For a second, I thought that said “turned on the ol’ Dick cream.”
For some reason, I’m inclined to agree with you on Alton Brown - something about him suggests he’d have a dickish disposition.
But as for Mr. Smith (née Fresh Prince) - an acquaintance of mine (a relative of a co-worker I met at a company picnic a couple years ago) worked on I Am Legend. I’m still not clear what he does - according to IMDB his official title on that movie was Production Assistant, but he was pretty low on the totem pole by his own admission.
According to this guy, during filming, his son was in the hospital due to a chronic illness. Smith heard about it, and visited the kid - just showed up one day when there was a lull in filming, said hi and spent some time with the kid, and later sent him a PSP and some games. He also said that Smith made sure to learn the name of everyone he met, from the PAs to the caterers, which is more than I can say for myself - I’m awful with names.
That just seems downright decent to me, despite what I feel about the media onslaught around the Pinkett-Smith-spawn.
Yeah, I understand that’s a good description of being a PA: what you do is all the shit work because you are at the bottom of the totem pole.
Same here only different. I really enjoy Maher’s commentary/humor, but would definitely not want to be in a room with him. Funny and thought provoking on the TeeVee, but I’d expect him to be extremely unpleasant in real life.
.
This list is quite surprising to me, as several come across, to me, as genuinely likeble people (Wayne Brady, Will Smith, Duff Goldman)
By all accounts, he’s a very decent guy in his private life.
A friend of mine was working for Ashton Kutcher’s company until a few weeks ago; He met Ashton many times - he said he’s a nice guy.
I had always thought I’d be surprised if he was jerk, but after the Village Voice fiasco, I’m no longer as sure.
