Which dressing gown do you prefer?

I think there’s simply a difference in typical American vs. British terminology. We call both the absorbent and non-absorbent types “bathrobes,” while the British seem to differentiate. I knew the difference, but I use the American terminology.

I don’t think we differentiate either, but the other way - they’re all dressing gowns. I’m sure some people have adopted the US term bathrobe for the type you wear after washing, but as a subset of dressing gown.
