I think the worst one lately for me is HHGTTG. I’ve read the books, but I had to read a chunk of the thread before I knew what the hell they were talking about. If I was going to shorten it, what’s wrong with Hitchiker’s Guide? Do those 9 extra letters really consume too many calories?
Great. I was wondering when they’d get around to translating Dude, Where’s My Car into the eldritch language of the Elder Gods.
Quiet frankly, I prefere none of them. Light-Horse Tommy Schwartz was an unfunny comedy, For Some Kippers, Frannie a second-rate “kitchen-sink” drama, and How Perry Williams Just Died had no logical reason of being.
This thread is about Passing Donkeys(or whatever movie they’re discussing)
Then every single comment about the movie is in a spoiler box. Helloooo? If I open a thread to discuss a movie, I’m going to expect that details will be revealed.
Now, if the thread title is “I’m going to see ____ this weekend,” then I can see why spoiler boxes need to be used, but on a regular thread it bugs me.
Some people want to open a thread to make a comment about a movie they haven’t seen (that they are going to see it or somethign) or a book they haven’t finished (they have things to discuss about what they have read, but don’t want to see anything about what they haven’t read) Yep, spoiler boxes have a use in threads about films and books.
Took me forever to figure out which Star Trek (ST) show ST:TOS was. And I was too embarrassed to ask, because I’ve seen every ST show & movie.
Didja get that? I spelled out Star Trek and then abbreviated it!
Also, I don’t about the rest of you, but I can type “as far as I know” a lot faster than I can hold the left shift key, type AFA, then hold the right shift key and type IK.
