I don’t think Star Trek will make it. It’s been out two weeks and it’s “only” made 150 mil so far domestically, with a budget of 190. By its second week, OTOH, Iron Man 3 already made 300 mil.
I really don’t care for Superman but I think the movie looks awesome.
I loved Iron Man 3.
The wife and I will watch Despicable Me 2 in theaters. We both really like the first one.
You don’t have Kick Ass 2 on there, but I’m stoked for that, as I am for Pacific Rim. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to see it. We have a baby and getting out of the house isn’t very easy.
Every film you mentioned looks horrendous (not just from the titles – I read up on every darned one of 'em for ya, fifteen minutes of my life gone forever), except MAYBE “The Internship.”
The only “summer” films I’ve cone across so far that interest me are both May releases: “Mud” (saw it and liked it), and “Before Midnight” (looking forward to seeing it in the next week or two).
God, what awful dreck is headed our way. Thanks for the warning, I guess.
My wife just informed me that I am unclear on the concept of “summer movie.” I apologize for what may be considered inadvertent threadshitting (and elitism), in my first post in this thread.
I shouldn’t have participated in the poll at all. Live and learn.
No worries! I included Iron Man 3 and Star Trek even though they came out before Memorial Day because they are both big deal, eagerly-anticipated releases. Their numbers are probably skewed because we have already had the chance to see them and can vote for them that way.
I didn’t want to look up every single movie being released between Memorial Day and Labor Day (and Riddick comes out the Friday after Labor Day) because that would just be too many titles to wade through. I am most interested in the big budget movies with big name stars, usually SF or comedies, that might be considered blockbuster or spectacle type stuff.
I was surprised that no one seems to have heard of Paranoia with Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman. I hadn’t heard of it and I know nothing about it. And I thought Planes, the Pixar spinoff from Cars, might be more popular.
Oh, and for the people interested in Epic, it’s pretty good, especially for kids. I knew nothing about it going in – I hadn’t even seen a trailer for it – but when I saw a hummingbird with a tiny saddle on its back, I knew I was in the right place.
I hadn’t heard of Paranoia or R.I.P.D before this poll. They both look decent. I’ll see Gary Oldman in just about anything so it got put on my list. RIPD looks so demented I can’t wait to see it. I hope hope hope it’s good.
