Here are 16 titles, all of which are SF/fantasy genre potential blockbuster movies. So whaddaya say?
Ummm, linky missing?
“The Invisible List.”
Off of that list - not many.
None
All movies nowadays are bad
Oh, and these are U.S. release dates, but anybody is welcome to vote or comment, of course!
I’m planning on seeing X-Men: Days of Future Past, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Edge of Tomorrow.
Yes, you get to pick only ONE title (as far as the poll goes – you can comment as much as you like). I want to see which titles are most popular.
I refuse to choose between Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy. The rest are less than nothing to me.
I say bring on those damn, dirty apes!
Godzilla will probably the only one I see at a cinema, maybe Guardians of the Galaxy if I can talk my wife into going.
Of the rest: *X-Men: Days of Future Past *, *How to Train Your Dragon 2 * and maybe Jupiter Ascending will be rentals.
Wow, what a crappy year for blockbusters.
The Amazing Spiderman 2 - The first was so bland and formulaic, I didn’t like it. The sequel seems to be going in the opposite direction, where everything looks cheesy and over the top. Those digital shots of time square look straight out of a video game. I might see it if Jamie Foxx does okay as Electro.
Godzilla - Ironically looks like any modern Roland Emmerich film.
X-Men: Days of Future Past - This series has been creatively dead since part 3. Even as decent as First Class was, it seemed more like a throwaway prequel than an actual film. And once again, Wolverine is the star of the show. Big shocker.
Maleficent - Angelina Jolie’s casting isn’t enough for me to see another one of these “Untold stories of earlier animated classics” films. Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was enough to end this new fad for me. I’m not even that big a fan of Sleeping Beauty in the first place.
Edge of Tomorrow - To be honest, I know so little about this film that I can’t really judge, but I generally don’t care much for Tom Cruise films.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 - The original never interested me and I haven’t seen it.
Earth to Echo - I actually haven’t heard of this film.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - I haven’t seen the original (cardinal sin as movie geek, I know).
Jupiter Ascending - Haven’t heard of this.
Hercules - If not for the Rock, this would’ve been released straight to DVD.
Guardians of the Galaxy - Though I loved Cap 2, I’m kinda burned out on Marvel at this point. I’ll wait till the reviews hit to see if my opinion changes.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Johnny Knoxville is playing Leonardo, The Shredder is a white corporate tycoon, Megan Fox is April, Johnathan Liebesman is directing, and Michael Bay is producing. There’s absolutely no reason for me to see this POC.
Into the Storm - Haven’t heard anything about it, so I’ll have to wait and see.
The Giver - See above
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For - If the reception’s as good for this as the first, I’ll check it out. Otherwise, I’m not gonna pay for another crappy Robert Rodriguez film. He’s been letting me down as of late.
None of those appeals particularly to me.
Huh. If you only get to choose one, which seems a poor way to conduct a poll of this type, I choose Guardians of the Galaxy, as it’s the only one that intrigues me. The rest just seem like things I’ve seen plenty of times before or just aren’t my cup of cold sick.
Unless the reviews are all bad, though, I also intend to see Planet of the Apes, Maleficent, and X-Men.
Jupiter Rising is a galactic space opera, its not a comic book movie or a superhero movie, and it’s by the Wachowski siblings. I’m in!
The Wachowskis, who’ve made exactly one movie I liked. Huh, not trusting that track record.
I like the previous X-Men movies, so I’m pretty sure I’ll go to that one.
I’ll probably see two or three of the other ones this summer, but I usually just go by what’s getting good reviews. Though I’m getting kind of close to superhero saturation, so other then X-men, I think I’ll avoid the rest of the current crop of superhero flicks regardless of revues.
I could tell by the titles that I would despise most of the films listed, and there were three I hadn’t heard of but might not necessarily be so atrocious. So, I voted “other,” and then quickly looked up those three. Of them, only one looked like it might interest me: “The Giver.” From what little I read, it looks like a potentially clever retelling of the life of the young Buddha (Siddartha), in a style perhaps reminiscent of “The Truman Show.”
I really don’t enjoy going to the movies - I’d much rather find something on Netflix or OnDemand, but every once in a rare while, I’ll consider entering a theater. However, nothing on the list would drag me from my couch. And even on Netflix, I don’t like movies based on comic books and most sci-fi stuff, so chances are I won’t be seeing any of those even when they’re available for streaming.
Isn’t Interstellar coming out this year as well?
