Which old movies need a TV reboot?

I’ve always wanted to see a weekly show based on *Without A Clue. *

Sketchy good news!

IIRC, Bill & Ted had both a cartoon adaptation (on CBS) and a (very short-lived) live-action TV adaptation (on Fox).

I would like to see it stay true to the movie and not move into Quantum Leap territory but sure.

I would give it a try. Recently rewatched the movie with my kids (actually young adults now). We all enjoyed Willow. Only the special effects were weak, the story and acting was solid.

Do we get the alligator disguise? Tell me we get the alligator disguise!

A mocumentary series based on Deathrace 2000. Sure, the cross-country Deathrace gets all the press and attention, but how do drivers get to that point? They have to make their way up through local and regional races, of course! That guy in a wheelchair may be worth a lot of points, but do the just-starting-out drivers have the budget to cover the type of damage a wheelchair can do to a speeding car?

The Dude from The Big Lebowski as a free-lance private detective who’s always underestimated because he looks like a loser stoner. Sort of Rockford Files crossed with Columbo.

"Um, yeah, man, that’s cool. That’s cool. That’s a good story.

Just, uh… just one more question…"

Brilliant idea!

Dragonslayer - I’m seeing something like the Jack the Giant-Killer stories - a series of dragons needing slaying under different circumstances. Maybe half-season arcs per dragon.

Labyrinth would work, seeing as they did such a great job with Dark Crystal. Not focused on Jared or Sarah except in cameos, but more episodes on other adventures there.

Krull, Willow, Mad Max would all be awesome.

The Journey Of Natty Gann.

The Rocketeer.

Robocop.

Yeah, there are certainly enough characters and locations to mine for interesting stories there. Even more so than Dark Crystal, which featured a largely depopulated world (though the TV series worked around this by setting the story in an earlier time).

Apparently there is a new Conan TV series in the works. You might like it as it seems to be based on the books rather than the movies (but therefore disqualified from this thread’s criteria).

The linked article also mentions a forthcoming adaptation of Logan’s Run, though it’s not clear whether this is to be a movie or a TV series. Either way, I’d be interested in watching. They ought to cast Megan Massacre as Jessica, who somewhat resembles a young Jenny Agutter.

On Disney+ right now. It’s not bad, though aimed at a younger audience than the movie.

What about The Phantom? I loved Billy Zanes take on it.

I was actually imagining more of an anthology type series- maybe a full season per story, maybe 2-3 episodes per story, but all stand-alone.

I know that’s sort of counter to the modern-day highly scripted series arc model, but hear me out- the Mad Max world seems like it would better lend itself to a series of weird and odd adventures and situations that Max would find himself in, and he’d basically go back into the wasteland at the end of each.

Having the full scripted-arc style show would tend to jack up the mythology I think- he’d go from being a somewhat mysterious loner who finds himself in weird adventures and situations, to being a more normal protagonist. That’s not to say that Max’s character shouldn’t be developed, but Max as the lone wanderer is kind of a key character point, and you won’t get that if he’s part of a larger group for too long or too deeply.

i loved the 90s robocop series espically when he interacted eith the old man of OCP

and if we have buck rogers could we base it off the original story? armageddon 2419…

Set, presumably in an eastern North Carolina meat processing plant.

Canada had one of those!

It was… uh… not specifically too good.

I know it was already done back in the 70s, but a Planet of the Apes TV series could be fun.

There is a 70 year old Buck running on Facebook where he fell into a meteorite crater in the 1940s and awakened 500 years later. Someone dug him up or something.
What happened in 2419?

I think the movie casino from 1995 would make a good TV series, at least for one season. I’m sure a lot of stories were available for that.
