Which ONE Crime Would You Like The True Answer To?

Hmmm…

there are three that I would like, and extra points for anyone else that cares…

  1. Ben Smart and Olivia Hope
  2. What really happened in the Bain household…was it Robin or David?
  3. What really went wrong at the Civic Creche, and for the REAL story about who drove the hysteria.

Robert Wone

Lockerbie.

You should draw out a sketchy flow chart on a black board, just in case anyone is having trouble following.

I’m gonna move Jack the Ripper to second place.

I’d really like to know who the Tylenol killer is.

Can we do famous thefts and cons, too?

Who is the Zodiac killer? Who, I ask.

Back in the news…http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/01/08/suspect_in_82_tylenol_case_appears_at_hearing/

Just what happened to MM2 Kenneth Louthain in the MDIV office that October night in 1993. Was it suicide, or was it murder?

I’ve never been convinced by the suicide claims. As the linked article shows, the method seems incredibly hap-hazard. By the same token, none of the people accused by the family of being the mysterious Machinist’s Mate who was doing the drug deal held water to me, either.

Who let the dogs out?

Officially it’s been solved

I voted for Lizzie Borden but I forgot about this. Coming from Chicago, I’d be more interested to know about this.

I’d like to know who really murdered the store owner that my wife’s former student was convicted of. She’s absolutely certain the police got the wrong person.

I’d want to know what asshole stole my lunch.

Since this thread is polling people for opinions, I’ve moved it from MPSIMS to IMHO.

The Monster of Florence-because I just read the book

I’d have to go with Lizzie Borden.

For some reason, even though I know Oswald is innocent, I’m not really interested in who shot JFK, and the Military Industrial complex is no one person, and Lyndon appears to be involved in every bad thing back then, so…

But, the Lizzie Borden thing-WOW! It’s great! What isn’t in it?

I’ve always been fascinated by Jack the Ripper, so that’d be my choice. As a consolation, I’d want to know why these people did the things they did – we know in the known cases (Manson, for instance), but I’d like to know for certain the Ripper’s motives, or Zodiac’s. Of course, I’d like to know Zodiac’s identity, but sticking to just one, per the OP, I’d say JtR.

I’ll also say the Jimmy Hoffa disappearance.

Sir Harold Oakes

I also second the Claremont killings. One of my friends was actually questioned in relation to that one.

I’m fascinated with true crime, particularly unsolved cases, or cases where the guilt of the person/s convicted is doubted by subsequent commentators. A few of the cases mentioned here are unfamiliar to me, so I’ll be following the links and reading more. In case there’s anyone else who likes this sort of thing, here are a few Australian classics.

I’m convinced that some of Ivan Milat’s brothers were involved in the Backpacker Murders
What really happened to Harold Holt?
The disappearance of Margaret Clement. I believe her remains have since been found.
I also have a book claiming the Pyjama Girl was misidentified.
The Bogle-Chandler mystery, though a recent ABC documentary has provided an explanation I find quite plausible.
Going way back, the Gatton Murders.
And finally, I’m amazed thiscase isn’t better known. The body of a man was found on an Adelaide beach. He was never identified. The cause of death was never determined. A fragment of poetry was found concealed in a secret pocket of his suit is the only clue.

facepalm How could I forget Peter Falconio? I’d really like to see this one resolved, if only so that his family might bury his body.
