Which ONE Crime Would You Like The True Answer To?

My daughter.

Who the hell took my favorite, worn-in Levi’s from the glove compartment of my 1950 Ford F-1? Sure, there were no locks on the door, but…come on…MY JEANS!!! :frowning:

Tupac Shakur…

Your jeans were in the glove compartment?

Wow, Gus, that is horrible. Do you have any theories on her case?

I don’t want to start a political debate, but I want to know why Bush decided to invade Iraq. Everyone thinks they know, but nobody REALLY does. It wasn’t just to loot oil. It wasn’t just to placate our blood lust. It wasn’t to try to “finish what his daddy started”. It wasn’t because of any ties to the 9/11 hijackers. I have never been satisfied with any explanation for exactly what he (and presumably his close advisers) wanted from the war.

ETA: and who the fuck is stealing my lunch out of the refrigerator. Rotten bastards.

I have to say I was surprised to see this from a non-Swede(?).

Some relatively inside-ish information related to me (ie: prisoner guard) indicates that Christer Pettersson*, the man originally accused of the crime was indeed guilty. The whole case was a complete mess though an left so many questions unanswered, that even though I am pretty much convinced he was the killer, I’d still like the case ‘solved’.

  • Previously convicted of murder, drug and alcohol addict who had access to a weapon of the same sort used and expressed hatred towards the government/Olof on many occasions previously.

Zodiak killer.

2000 presidential election, including all bribed officials and the trail of money.

2004 presidential election and the true role of the Diebold machines.

Yeah. This is the one I’d like to know.

God, that’s the stuff of nightmares. I hope the crime is solved someday.

My son and i were talking about this today. He had seen the documentary recently.

We decided that there should be a legal rule TBU[sup]2[/sup] which is just Too Botched Up To Be Upheld. Once X% of the populace think the case stinks it means there is reasonable doubt. Who cares if the decision is wrong, we are talking about a judgment, a guess about what really happened.

Chandra Levy

Definitely the Ramsey murder. I believe very strongly that her parents were not involved (and DNA evidence does point to an unknown male), but it’s mind-boggling that the killer has gotten away with it for this long. As grisly as it sounds, I wish I could be a fly on the wall in their house on that night, just so I could see how the killer managed to pull it off.

At the time this all happened my parents were friendly with one of the detectives working on the case. I can remember a conversation they were having, although they didn’t know I was listening. He said that they knew that Chandler was the killer and that he was the kind of guy that would eventually have to boast about it. He said that they were keeping it quiet because Chandler had poisoned the couple with a mixture of two common household products.

Definitely Ben Smart and Olivia Hope - I know they tried Scott Watson, but this still feels unfinished.

Band name!!!

And the Princes in the Tower for me three. I also don’t think it was Richard. Every book I’ve read that ‘proves’ it was him is complete gibberish.

And Sven Hoglin and Heidi Paakonnen, 'cos David Tamihere was fitted up.

Hard to pick just one, but I’ll add my vote to JFK. Just to put an end to it at last.

Lots of interesting ones but the JFK one is just to big to pass up. As a kid totally engrossed by the Oliver Stone flick it’s always interested me a lot for someone a couple generations too young to really have any closeness to it. Hopefully the “true answer” captures any and all of the political intrigue surrounding it though. I don’t just want confirmation that Oswald was a lone gunman, but I want to know if he was just a nut acting alone or if he was trained and sent specifically for the job and by who.
