What online site is best for getting a part-time job?
And please, do not discuss temp agencies. I have nothing but bad memories from them. And a few physical scars.
Bueller?
I really think your best approaches are visiting in person and networking. From my reading it seems a very problem has been developing in recent years where there are programs available to easily submit large numbers of job applications all over–so employers are overwhelmed by all these applications and use the more traditional methods to fill vacancies.
Wife used indeed dot com. It took a few attempts at different job openings. Some places never responded. Some responded but it was like a weird HR bot. Finally got hired 100% online for a major retailer. She just got an email saying show up Tuesday and ask for Barb.
She is highly educated and retired from a professional career. We thought that was good but I’m not sure the indeed dot com employers thought so.
I have an Indeed account. They rarely send me anything I might be interested in or qualified to do.
One thing Indeed sends me quite often are jobs involving something called “Outlier.ai,” which is some sort of platform for freelancers. Has anyone used this? I’ve watched several videos about the platform but I’m suspicious because most of them are voiced by people with foreign accents. (Russians?) They require a lot of personal information, and I’ve read comments from several people who say it’s a scam.
I found a very good, very satisfying part-time job through Indeed a couple of years ago. I use Indeed a lot to look through job listings in various locations for one reason or another. When looking for myself or others my strategy is always to search and browse frequently, not wait for jobs to respond to saved resumes. I don’t know what your field is but I look for a broad range of administrative opportunities to see what’s out there. Searching myself is the only way to find them.
Besides Indeed I also look at LinkedIn (which is less helpful for really local searches) and Idealist.com for nonprofit listings. All the sites have options for remote work if that’s what you’re looking for, but my searches are focused on the local physical job scene.
