Which original 6 NHL team is your favorite?

Even if you’re a fan of another NHL team, pick your favorite of the 6 NHL teams that are considered the original 6.

I picked Montreal. Easy choice. I’ve spent most of my life living in places which didn’t have a NHL team, but I remember as a kid reading about Guy Lafleur. Toronto would be in second place. I guess Boston would be 3rd. Chicago 4th, New York 5th, and the Red Wings 6th!

I’m an Ottawa born and raised Senators fan, so first off, I resent the term “Original six” because there’s nothing inherently “original” about them.

Being a Sens fan, I couldn’t bring myself to cheer for Montreal or Toronto. I’m writing my master’s thesis on hockey organ music, and so I’ve been following the Blackhawks very closely the past few months. But Steve Yzerman was one of my favorite players growing up, and the Wings have always been my default team once the sens fall out of the playoffs.

Completely unbiased vote. The Wings. They have the best jerseys too.

I picked Detroit, because my first introduction to the sport came from a couple of Red Wings fans.

I watched hockey games when there were only six teams; I was a Rangers fan.

Though I always admired the Black Hawks’ power play back then.

Montreal. They were our local team.

Detroit.

I’m from Michigan and they are amazing. Montreal would be my next one, though. Have to be impressed with their record.

I grew up halfway between Toronto and Detroit so that provided me with a solid hatred for Toronto and Detroit as I could never stand either fan base. There was also a decent Montreal fan base near my cottage so that was out. The Rangers always tried to spend themselves to championships and were pretty terrible at it with the exception of the lock out shortened season (or was it a strike?). When you’re young the emblem on the front of the jersey means something, so Chicago beat out Boston.

I was never really what one would call die hard, though.

Bruins are my team anyway

Red Wings, because I grew up in the Detroit area.

Habs. *

I like 'em for the story of how they got the Habs nickname, and for Patrick Roy when he was with them, as well as because I married into a Habs family.

*Canadiens

Proud Canadiens fan since 1987.

QFT.

Toronto Maple Leafs as delivered to me by Foster Hewitt.

^^ Need I 'splain?

Toronto because I loved their uniforms.
Boston would be second for this reason
Montreal third
Black Hawks fourth
Rangers fifth
Red Wings don’t get on the list. I loathe the Red Wings uniforms. Especially those disgusting all-red CCCP unis. Awful.

Boston fan since the days of Espo, Orr, Cashman, Bucyk, Cheevers, etc., etc., etc…

By location it should be Boston, but I have a sentimental connection to the Canadiens, as well.

Pretty much anyone but the Leafs;)

In the Hockey Hall of Fame they have a recreation of the Habs locker room from the old Forum. If you are a hockey fan, particularily one who can remember seeing any of the great Canadiens teams play (I pretty much started watching hockey right when the Canadiens were unbeatable in the 70s) it is quite compelling. I felt really awed. Not something I was expecting to feel at the Hockey Hall of Fame. That franchise has an unbelievable history.
