I think the lyrics were the title; in his interview on YouTube, he says he was specifically ordered to make the theme about “Judd! Judd for the Defense!”
If you’ve ever listened to it, you know he did just that. ![]()

Sorry to resurrect my geriatric thread but I finally got around to this episode (“The Wolf in the Fold”) and it turns out that Jack the Ripper is an incorporeal planet-hopping space serial killer. This show is amazing.
OMFG I forgot this episode existed. And I loved it when I was a kid.
Resurrect away! as long as there’s still episodes you haven’t commented on.
Written by Robert Bloch and a continuation of one of his most famous stories, “Yours Truly Jack the Ripper.” So even more amazing and astounding than you think.
When I was writing my on-line ST preview column on PLATO back in 1975-77 I got very good at figuring out which show it was from the TV Guide blurb.
Love that one!
“No, die, make you suffer!”
“Kill, kill, kill you all…”
I guess quotes aren’t working now either?
My favorite line from Wolf in the Fold in when McCoy sedates everyone and says the most violent thing they’ll do now is take up knitting.
I was also a little bothered that milquetoast guy ends up getting beamed into space. He was still a person wasn’t he, just possessed by an evil murdering space spirit?
Sometimes they do; sometimes they don’t.
The way the board’s working now, about half the time it doesn’t remember anything that happened after 6-10-2013 at about 7:00 pm Central, so if you’re trying to quote something that was posted more recently than that, it might not show up. Re-trying sometimes works.
You realize, of course, that that little kid is a fairly accomplished supporting actor, right? He has been in several movies his famous brother has directed.
I think he was dead already? Maybe?
Yes, I know who Clint Howard is.
I just watched GIANT SPACE AMOEBA OF DOOM. It was fun. There was a giant space amoeba. I also watched “Plato’s Stepchildren”. I can’t decide if I hated it because it was ridiculous, or loved it because Spock was wearing a glittery toga and singing.
Evidently. By his own admission, Kirk didn’t hit him that hard.
Nothing beats Shatner whinnying like a horse while down on all fours. ![]()
We finally ditched DirecTV, signed on with Netflix, and belatedly got an HDTV. Netflix has the entire run of TOS and the picture quality is better than I’ve ever seen it. Amazing, really, since back then nobody had TVs anywhere near as good. It almost brings a tear to the eye.
BTW I do remember now that the bonk-bonk kid appears in “Miri”, not “And The Children Shall Lead” featuring Melvin Belli as Gorgon the evil space angel. But all rolled into one they would indeed have made great bizarre rp.
Whover you are, you sure talk gloomy.
With a shot of this stuff in my arm, I wouldn’t be afraid of a supernova!
Slight problem that in the fight scenes modern HD TVs make it clear that Kirk isn’t being played by Shatner.
Next time you watch “Arena,” take a good look at his feet. He isn’t wearing Starfleet boots, he’s wearing black knee socks (or hose) and what look like wrestling/boxing boots.
I guess the outdoor stunt work for that episode was a little too rough for his regular wardrobe.
I found this clip from the Sci-Fi Trek Marathon on YouTube the other night. According to Shatner, Coon thought the series was taking itself a bit too seriously and did indeed churn out the worst script he could write just to show Roddenberry how low it could sink.
Ricardo Montalban as guest star,
Spock’s mother describing his fanged pet,
The Organians,
Hortas,
Computerized war games (and real deaths),
Lord Mudd,
Swords aboard the enterprise.
“Space Seed”
“Journey to Babel”
“Errand of Mercy”
“Devil in the Dark”
“A Taste of Armageddon”
“I, Mudd”
“Day of the Dove”
Now gimme my piece of candy! ![]()
