Which Original Star Trek Eps are 'must watch'?

Me too. Why would seas enter into it?

You misspelled “carpet samples covered in Squeez-e-cheez”.

That’s Clint Howard, brother of Ron Howard, voiced by an off screen actor or so I’ve always thought. CH is supposed to be one of very few actors to have appeared in every TV series in the ST franchise.

Memory Alpha lists him as appearing in TOS, DS9, and Enterprise, but not in TNG or Voyager.

The kid in* The Corbomite Maneuver*? Clint Howard.[sup]1[/sup]

[sup]1[/sup]Ron Howard[sup]2[/sup]'s brother

[sup]2[/sup]Opie, Richie Cunningham, kid in The Shootist[sup]4[/sup], and a director of many hit movies. First role was the titular character in a television adaptation of Barnaby.[sup]3[/sup]

[sup]3[/sup]comic strip by the guy who wrote the Harold and the Purple Crayon books.

[sup]4[/sup]starring John Wayne, famous for* Rio[sup]5[/sup] Grande*.

[sup]5[/sup]by Duran Duran.

I recently rewatched this one only because the first episode of Star Trek Continues is a direct sequel to that episode with Michael Forest reprising his role as Apollo. Not great by any means but not as bad as the space hippies and Spock’s Brain.

My favorites: City on the Edge of Forever, Amok Time, Mirror, Mirror and Balance of Terror.

Well, was TOS done on tape or on 16mm? Because middling’ film is still LYs better than the tape they had in the late 60s.

IIRC, It was shot on 35mm film for airing in the US and then transferred to 16mm film for broadcast in Canada. Definitely no videotape was involved.

Gotta admit, that Fesarius ending up filling the whole screen was an impressive scene when I first saw it in the 60s. Still empressive even in the mid 70s. By the time I saw Star Wars, tho, with that opening scene, I was no longer thrilled by the Fesarius. But, I still respect it, even today. Has anyone seen the remastered version? How does it look on screen while watching the ep?

I don’t recall my feelings while watching the remastered episode. Here’s a screen shot:

Yeah, I had seen the screen shot, looks cool.

I was more wondering about watching that scene unfold remastered. Did it fill one’s thoughts with wonder about how BIG the universe really is? That’s what I got out of it when originally aired. Or does it merely bring the optical effect up to our present standards? (I guess I need to see a few remastered eps)

The bluray remastered versions are amazing. There’s nothing too jarring, but in addition to updated special effects, a lot of little niggling flaws have been cleaned up or fixed, like the countdown clock in Corbomite where Sulu says there’s 1 minute left but the clock displays 2. The remastering was a labor of love and it shows. Go here and scroll down to “Remastered Information” to see the changes including before/after of the Fesarius. This is the “money shot” if that’s what you’re looking for.

I hate him. He is chopped liver on the right side.

Heh. Thanks, and my apologies.

I was directing my comment at standingwave, for posting the same picture link I did a couple posts back.

Sorry.

I think much of TOS was written by Pakleds.*
