I’ve read virtually all of Paul Theroux’s travel books but I have none of them with me.
I remember that one of them had a section towards the back with 10 or 15 short pieces each detailing strange cultural practices he had observed or read about. For example, one piece talked about a tribe somewhere that picks a scapegoat upon his/her birth and then the entire tribe keeps that secret from the scapegoat for 15 or 20 years until the time for his/her sacrifice…
Anyway, does anyone know which Theroux book I’m referring to? I’d like to order it again.
