Er…how *you *doin’?
Canada, for one. Probably the second-largest Doper group. I don’t know if you’re counting the Middle East as part of Asia, but there seems to be a small but visible minority posting from there. I’m pretty sure I saw someone posting from South Africa, too.
Oh, and 1), 6), 7), 8) and 9) apply to me.
Four of nine.
Zeldar-
Perhaps this is a reflection of the general 'net population? 8 out of 9 by the way, but only by about 30 miles. Don’t discount MN, though, I have seen quite a few posters from Minnesota
VOY is Star Trek: Voyager.
5 of 9 was a Borg. Male. Not having female big tits. He went “whrr, whrr” a lot.
Episode number is a fabrication, I didn’t watch enough of that series to be able to actually spew out ep #s like I can TOS and TNG.
I’m doin fine, baby, how YOU doin?
8 of 9.
Since I’m the same age as Jess and not getting any younger, I’m not holding out much hope for a perfect score!
Six out of nine. I don’t have pets, I smoke, and I represent the tenth-grade-dropout segment of the population.
Thanks for pointing out those oversights! Believe it or not, probably not, but I include Canada in my view of the USA, mostly because I tend to equate North America with USA in my mind. I’m not that way with Mexico for some reason. Language I guess.
And I just plain forgot Africa! Shame on me.
And the Middle East does deserve its own designation. Asia, to me, connotes India eastward, including Japan and the Philippines as well as Malaysia. The portion of the old USSR east of Russia counts, too, even though I tend to put Russia in the Eastern Europe grouping. That leaves Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan and other such countries as question marks as to the Asia/Middle East divisions.
Four of nine for me, as well.
That Australia and New Zealand are no where near Europe so probably shouldn’t be followed with “Other European countries”. I do apologise if either you were having a brain fart or I just read that in an odd way
Shame on you missing out Canada!
Thanks. I needed that. This is just one of those areas where I’m ignorant. I did enjoy the original, but lost interest after it. I know you’re a big fan and should have known it had to do with Star Trek somehow.
I would imagine that political persuasion would be an important one that seems to be missing. I would consider myself in a minority there as well. I classify myself as a conservative (not that I don’t always equate this with right wing). I’m generally slightly right of centre, and I tend to vote that way here in Australiam and would be R if I were American, and Tory in the UK - but never blindly (I am thinking of voting Labor next time here).
uh…
::deer in headlights look::
…fine…gotta go!
(durn it! No one’s ever flirted back!)
Eugh. Don’t post after a long, tiring shift when you should be in bed. Second typo retraction tonight… I meant to say “not that I always equate this with right wing”. No double negative intended.
Double shame on the Canada thing! I should be banned for that.
If it helps at all, I was making that list from what I thought the Doper populations would be, in descending order. There may be even more Australian and New Zealand (combined) Dopers than British.
Maybe we need a separate thread that addresses these geographical issues more precisely. I seem to recall an attempt at one some time back, but don’t remember well (obviously) how it turned out.
Seven out of nine here–would be nine out of nine except for the ‘in the USA’ part of two of them. Few of the Canadian Dopers seem to be from near as far east as I am, but as mentioned earlier, that’s probably due to population density–IIRC Toronto has a larger population than all of Nova Scotia.
8 out of 9 here and that will be remedied once I’m through college/living off campus and can thus get a cat.
8 out of 9. Sadly, I can’t own a pet since I rent an apartment. Once I get a place where I can have a pet, I’ll get a kitty and name it Rasputin.
8 out of 9. I just turned twenty, so I do not fit the third category. Otherwise, I’m your typical Doper.
Folks, we’re rocking right along identifying (or at least quantifying) the majorities (if they are indeed such) we belong to, but the OP was trying to ask for the minorities we belong to. I accept that the OP could be better worded to that effect, but what other minorities do you lay claim to?
I feel that jazz fans are in the minority here. Also, fans of what has been demeaningly termed “Easy Listening” music. (Even more demeaningly: Elevator Music, Middle-of-the-Road, etc.)
I sense that people who are not enthused by all the techno-buggered movies that continue to rake in big box office are in the minority. Such things as The Matrix and all the Star Wars clones, and even the LotR movies are definitely in the majority. I, for one, find them boring and hardly entertaining.
It’s these sorts of minorities I was shooting for in this thread.
And any others you feel you are in the minority on.
