Not rich enough to buy the complete set, though that would look pretty cool up on the shelf…
In the meantime I want at least a complete season but I’m not sure which one to buy. My friend bought the first season discs as he’s in the same boat as me but wants to build up a collection. I watched a bunch of the episodes with him, but unfortunately I could barely stand it. It was so early on and clearly the show hadn’t come into its own yet. I’m not a huge trekkie, but I did watch a lot of TNG episodes nightly in syndication many moons ago. I don’t remember which seasons have the best episodes.
Well, which season should I get? First and second choice?
If you can wait about a month, I’d be willing to bet you could catch them on sale. Might also want to consider something like Netflix–you would not own the set, put you could watch more episodes.
That said, I’d stay away from the last season. There may be sets that have all the Q episodes, or all the Borg episodes available…
My suggestion would be seasons four or five as the middle seasons between the third season, when it first became good, and the seventh season, when the quality started dipping again.
Yeah, why did it stop sucking and become good? Was that when Gene Roddenberry died? We’ve been watching the very first season, and I never knew how badly it blew until now.
Right on, thanks for the tip. I just might do that as I’m not dying to own, them. It’s unlikely I’d go for a Q or Borg set since the idea of doing DVDs would be to watch them in order since I never got to the first time around.
I wouldn’t buy any entire season, but then, I’m not a collector. I’d just get the episodes I wanted to see, either by borrowing from a friend or from my local library (through interlibrary loan if it’s not on the shelf).
