Which web browser do you prefer to use.

Firefox 3.5.

I tried Chrome recently and realized how accustomed I’d become to not seeing ads on Web pages.

the beta is available for debian-based systems:

Firefox. Hooray! We’re in the majority.

I’m a Firefox newb. I’ve resisted it for years and finally took the plunge. I love it love it love it!

Demeter user here.

Demeter is a Shiira variant; and before I switched I was using Shiira.

Shiira and Demeter are both WebKit browsers (same underpinnings as Safari).

Before that I was an iCab user.

Before that I was using Netscape Navigator.

Hmm, so I’ve never used any of the choices on your poll as my main browser! (Used them at ALL, certainly. I have an immense flock of them installed and available to me).

IE 7. I have to use IE for work, and IE 8 is a massive piece of junk. I love Firefox as well, but I use IE more.

I take it Chrome doesn’t have AdBlock? Well so much for entertaining that idea.

Why are there no such add-ons for Chrome?

EDIT: Also, what the hell are you guys doing with Firefox that causes crashing to be so frequent that you actually cite it as a problem after moving to a new browser? Firefox never just up and freezes on me during most anything and I’m running a very modest computer.

Well, Chrome is a free program provided by Google. All of Google’s services are free, because Google makes immense amounts of money from its targeted ads. Google has no reason to allow adblocking on its own software.

So? ABP is a third-party product when it comes to being an add-on for Firefox, so why is it not available on Chrome? Or something like it?

Opening twenty-some tabs at once, perhaps.

I’m another person who downloaded Chrome on a whim and then stayed with it after seeing how much faster it was. Now it’s almost painful to feel the lag when I try to start Firefox for some reason. I also really like being able to kill one tab as a separate process without disturbing the other eleventy billion things I have to have open at the same time.

So Chrome’s my new love. If I ever find out a way to change the [del]middle-click tab behavior[/del] right-click Google search behavior (so that the new tab opens in the background) or how to get shortcuts like Ctrl+I to work in the Dope’s posting box, I might marry it.

IE8 and Chrome sometimes

I use Safari as a secondary to Firefox, on sites that choke when my NoScript and AdBlock add-ons get their hands on them. Fortunately that’s not many.

I use FireFox. There’re a number of plugins that are extremely convenient.

<obvious joke>

Damn man, even I don’t need that much porn at once!

</OJ>

I’m glad you guys have found a browser that you like so much. Firefox and I have a pretty good thing going on right now and I’m not particularly ready to move on to a whole new browser right now. I’ll keep my eyes on Chrome, but until she has an AdBlock-like add-on, I’ll stick with my tried and true baby.

I feel compelled to clear up a minor misunderstanding here: I’m not a man, but a member of the multitasking sex. Should’ve been obvious :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha! Fair enough, but I feel like I should point out that it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that a man would have a ton of different tabs open of pornography. Or so I assume. :wink:

I mostly use Opera, but I use Chrome for gmail and google reader, IE8 for things that have to be IE (mostly microsoft.com sites) and occasionally Firefox for the hell of it. I would use Chrome a lot more if it had mouse gestures.

I checked Firefox, but also use Safari as my partner prefers that and it’s the default browser on my iMac. If I click a link in email, it starts Safari. I’ve got to say there’s not enough difference to worry me.

I was tempted to ask a Mod to move certain votes from ‘other’ that I knew were meant for chrome. But I was still surprised that my first request was granted so I would have felt like I was pushing it if I asked for any further favours.

Same here.
I got IE 8 and everything was all wacked, so I took it off, and am back to IE 7, and am starting to use Firefox too. Firefox does seem a little faster for some applications.
